Re: 2025 NBA Draft
The year we took Paolo I was so focused on the top of the draft that I didn’t pay attention farther down. Were there people who were high on Jalen Williams as a sleeper? TBH I never heard of him in college, so having this kind of impact 3 years into his career (All NBA, better than Paolo and Franz) is shocking to me. Is there anyone in this year’s draft with a similar pre draft profile or any similar buzz?

I think he was a 2nd round candidate for a while and then got late lotto- mid 1st buzz after the combine iirc. I guess Cedric Coward or a guy like Noa Essengue could be comparables this year? Maybe Nique Clifford? I mean everyone always wants to draft the wing that has handles that work in the NBA and becomes more than 3/D, but a lot of times it seems so hard. Williams really just had one good year at a small school as a junior, so wasn't looked at as a sure bet.
I kind of like Will Riley if we are talking about wings with potential to add creation.

So safe to say Poulakidas is off our list.
It like... a pity-workout.Seems we are the only tram to work him out. Wonder why...

Re: 2025 NBA Draft
Jase has a 6'6" wingspan, and Mitchell has a 6'10" wingspan.Bensational wrote:Jase Richardson, to me, has a Kyle Lowry physique with Donovan Mitchell wingspan (not as good as Don’s). I get flashes of both watching his highlights. Uses that wingspan to keep the ball away from his defender pretty well. Pure looking touch on his shot. His dad played here so he may have some kind of inside track with the team off that.
Jase is the same height as Tyus Jones. Tyus has a 6'5" wingspan. So Jase is basically the same size as Tyus.
I really have no clue how good Jase will be. He could be a star or out of the rotation.

If you look at circumstances...
1.)unknown from a small/"no-name" school
2.)suddenly climbing the charts
3.)6'5/6 territory G/F
That's Coward...

Re: 2025 NBA Draft
I feel like Coward will be the player with all the wingspan that we pass on, like Mikal Bridges and SGA. Coward will probably get a promise from someone, and we won't see him again until he's drafted.RookieStar wrote:YosemiteSam wrote:The year we took Paolo I was so focused on the top of the draft that I didn’t pay attention farther down. Re: 2025 NBA Draft
Both Nesmith and NAW are young players our board would have chewed out and not kept before their nice Playoffs impacts today.
But they always had good measurables and shooting background behind them. In fact, I think I remember our board was in love with both names in their draft years so I actually think in a forums board committee, we would have grabbed one of them a couple years ago at a great discount.

I liked NAW, but I wasn't sold on Nesmith.dsg2021 wrote:Both Nesmith and NAW are young players our board would have chewed out and not kept before their nice Playoffs impacts today.

We really screwed up on the Nesmith draft. Bane, Quickley, Maxey, and Pritchard were picked after Cole. Our front office really can't be trusted in the draft. They've made huge reaches that didn't work out.

Sometimes it takes guys being traded for very little or getting very minimal interest on the free agency market for the lightbulb to finally come on.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft
I was in on Nesmith...but, admittedly, he was coming in like a Buddy Hield "one elite tool" player...he's certainly done well to become a defensive player to go with his shooting. Wasn't he the guy that shot like 50% from 3 and then got hurt (in college)?

Maybe we take him with one of our seconds. I hope we trade our firsts for a Austin Reeves or Cam Johnson type guy

To satisfy Paolo and the fans demands for win now moves, we probably only use one FRP and sell, punt or trade the others

Seems like an undrafted FA guy. Teams typically work out a bunch of those.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft
i think after seeing Cole the past two years being unplayable in the playoffs, it is possible we pass up on Jase at 16. But take him at 25, IF available.basketballRob wrote:Jase has a 6'6" wingspan, and Mitchell has a 6'10" wingspan.Bensational wrote:Jase Richardson, to me, has a Kyle Lowry physique with Donovan Mitchell wingspan (not as good as Don’s). He simply doesn’t fit the positional size movement that Weltman has obviously been on since we moved on from Vuc era

Re: 2025 NBA Draft
Condon and Uzan going back to school. Tomorrow is the deadline for returning, I think. 2nd round could lose some serious depth, but our 2nds aren't great anyway so don't think it hurts us a ton. Need the 1st round to stay as it is so our picks keep their value.

I think this is a very real possibility. I don't think it is terrible thought process either, it's hard to make it at 6 foot. And if you do make it then it is still hard to stay on the court in the playoffs at that size.
I just like Jase so I'm biased, but the height thing is a big deal. He does show really good defensive effort and we theoretically should be built to hide some mediocre defense in favor of offense. Cole doesn't put the ball in the basket efficiently enough to make that tradeoff. The idea of Jase, which is a hyper efficient shooter, maybe is more playable than Cole. But I do think you could be right.

I remember wanting to trade for nesmith after his crappy second year.... And people were definitely not on board. But change in location, opportunity and time have made a difference.
Just randomly saw this when I woke up.

Pacers had the time to wait and see if he would get better Boston didn’t.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.
