Post#1 » by NYG » Tue May 27, 2025 9:46 pm

Would anyone trade future pick(s) for a '25 1st? If so what picks are available and what are they worth?

Edit...

Top 14 picks are...

Cooper Flagg
Dylan Harper
Ace Bailey
V.J. Edgecombe
Kon Knueppel
Tre Johnson
Jeremiah Fears
Khaman Maluach
Derik Queen
Kasparas Jakucionis
Egor Denim
Noa Essengue
Collin Murray-Boyles
Carter Bryant

OKC is shopping 15th Overall for future 1sts... what's your offer?

I think that solely depends on which 2025 pick is hypothetically available.

Let's say 15-30... I'm not sure any lottery team can make such a deal

No offense to the OP, but this question is so vague as to be essentially unanswerable.

What pick? What team is looking to move current picks for future ones? Who's left on the board?

Not sure if our FO agrees, but I would trade 10.

I like prospects through about 18, or likely 20, since I am sure a couple guys I like fall, and a couple i don't like creep up.

Feels strange to say, but we could also use some later first rounders, in future years, mostly to facilitate future minor deals.

Speaking of future deals... 10 to the Pelicans for the 2 Bucks 1sts?

Let see

- NOP has the right to swap its 2026 1st round pick for MIL's 2026 1st round pick
- NOP will receive the more favorable of its 2027 1st round pick and MIL's 2027 1st round pick and ATL will receive the less favorable of the two protected for selections 1-4; if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyable, then NOP' commitment to ATL will be lifted and NOP will instead receive both picks (via NOP)

1.) I think this leaves NOP without a pick in 26 and 27 since their other 26 pick via IND is protected, so Steipan is an issue.
2.) So the 26 and 27 picks are NOP's, with the right to swap with Milwaukee. New Orleans is hard to peg where they are in the west next year, since Zion is injury prone. That could be a really good pick, so they likely want to protect the NOP portion of it. The swap I think is probably of limited value unless the Bucks decide to move Giannis, then the swap is very valuable. These are high variance picks, so hard to gauge value.

Id probably do it, not sure if NOP would.

ORL has swap rights with PHX next year (WAS in the mix too, but Top 8 protected for them to jump in)...I'd move it to get Maluach, who I've seen mocked anywhere from 7-10

Would have to pray Orlando then gets a PG capable of running a PnR.

Top-8 for who to jump in? I thought this pick was unprotected for Orlando (the details are confusing to comprehend so I could have misread something).

I'd probably go with another trade over prayer, but that's me.

Not saying 14 is available, but I wouldn't be shocked if the Spurs traded out if they don't love what's available when they're on the clock, like they did in 2024 with 8 (traded it to the TWolves for a 31 unprotected pick and a 30 top 1 protected swap).

Blazers management seems to be signaling an internal mandate to win now ( ), and as such the Blazers seem poised to spend the capital they have sooner rather than later. I could see them packaging #11 with other assets to move up in the draft -- or out entirely, if the right player becomes available. Whatever the case, if Portland truly is buying, expect their future picks and swaps to be on the table.

Actually, I should walk back my attitude here a bit. I may catch flak from the more optimistic Blazers fans.

I always believe a team should be buying if it represents that team's best available path towards being really good. If Cronin and company have some magic up their sleeves that truly vaults this team into serious winning, of course they should wave the wand and do it! Your job as a GM is to replace your players with better ones and make your team more competitive. The means by which you do it should not be subject to the whims or pressures of some jerk on the Internet like me. What I roll my eyes at is the implied defense of Blazers messaging some have communicated that this roster already has its stars in wait or that it merely needs seasoning and some work around the edges. No, this roster needs a cornerstone (and to be clear, that player is not already on the roster) or significant upgrades at nearly every position to credibly march an ensemble cast out there against superstar-led teams.

Although I still doubt we do much, I think it’s possible Detroit trades a future first and whatever else is necessary to target a PF prospect they like. Fleming and Wolf come to mind. Neither will be around at 37, our only pick.

So future first (with some protection, depending on which year). 37 if desired, and something (Sasser, maybe?) for a pick in the 17-22 range would be my speculation.

I think New Orleans would be open to trading the 2026 IND 1st, especially if it could help them get off a year or two of Murray's contract.

That's probably sound thinking. Trading away a current pick on draft night disappoints the fans, but trading away a future, low-variance, low-upside pick in a cost-cutting snoozer of a deal might be a prudent use of an asset if it lets the Pelicans keep or acquire more important players. (On the other hand, I don't believe in their roster and would be looking to turn most of it over, keeping such assets as future first rounders to either make a big splash or rebuild.)

OMG, we actually kinda collect Phx picks.

2026 Magic #1 with rights to swap with Phx for #10, if Maluach falls.
