You don't spend the #8 pick on a backup. As I have said elsewhere, I am an Edey fan and I am happy for his success but he could never succeed with Wemby on the court at the same time. The big I am looking for is a stretch big with enough wiggle not no only play drop coverage.

Most players drafted outside of the first 5 are backups with very few exceptions. I'm talking about Edey being a backup (which we desperately need) not a starting stretch 4. Wemby and Edey would rarely need to be on the court at the same time. I'm just saying we wasted that pick instead of filling a hole we already had.

As I've said plenty of times here, Fox fell into our laps. We didn't seek him out. Sacramento was forced to take what they could get from us. We could have used any other asset we had to get him. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

I would be ok with this but not with Sochan involved. Phoenix is basically Ainge in Utah. They will definitely try to take advantage of us. Don't be taken advantage of. At this point in his career no one is going to blame you for walking away from a Durant deal if its too expensive.

We could have, hypothetically, since we have a ton of assets, but we acquired them with shred moves, like flipping 8 into TWO picks, only one top one protected.

Now in the 2025 draft there are a dozen quality Cs, two projected in the lotto. One, Wolf, is projected to us at 14. Most have a more modern inside/outside game, many at least 7', good passing, rebounding, blocking, etc.

We did well to flip 8 for what we did since it has multiplied value in future trades, one which we used on Fox. Another can be used for part of a KD package.

I would be ok with this but not with Sochan involved. He's a high level defender. Terrific off ball. Good energy shifter. Phoenix is basically Ainge in Utah. They will definitely try to take advantage of us. Don't be taken advantage of. At this point in his career no one is going to blame you for walking away from a Durant deal if its too expensive.

This exactly. I'd balk at Sochan and sub in Branham and an extra 2nd round pick or whatever.

I'm all about continuing the shrewd deals. We don't have to overpay to construct a roster around Wemby. Besides, Townsend is now saying that while Rockets were once an option, we are now favoured. I'd expect that to be a strong counter leverage to a bidding war.

I don't mind KD. However, I am not giving Sochan up for him as we then have nothing in the defensive front court except Wemby. Vassell, Branham, #14 and a future first + whichever of Barnes/Keldon to make up the salary.

No chance in hell on that Durant trade. I don't believe our office would get fleeced like that. Surprised it hasn't come up but he's literally an unrestricted free agent in 2026 so it would be a 1 year rental...as a 37yo injury prone player.

If we use our Kawhi trade as a reference point (which we shouldn't cause he was in his prime), we still only got a decent player, and a prospect back + a protected first. I would be shocked if we traded anything more than Vassell, another filler player, and a couple of 2nd rounders...MAYBE the #14 pick but that would be near desperation

There's been whispers of mutual interest dating back to the trade deadline. I wonder if we even wait on a Giannis deal if we get confirmation he isn't interested in us?

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/280642/Suns-Could-Trade-Kevin-Durant-By-The-Draft;-Spurs-Connected-To-Durant

Of course, if Giannis is, then we have to weigh all options...

The draft can't come soon enough!

Good recent interview with Fox. All in on being with us. That's the kind of player we want:
