Walter is more than a few steps down as prospect and both were better passers/decision makers, ball handlers and scorers.

Oh, they had similar stats. Clayton played in a much tougher conference the last 2 seasons.

It could go either way with him. He could be a star or out of the rotation. Steph Curry has the same exact height and wingspan. Curry was able to have a decent career.

Every other player at Currys height and wingspan was much worse than Curry though.

Steph was a tier 3.5 guy for me. Even the comp at the time was Bibby with less PG skills, meets mini Reggie Miller. He ended up much better than that. 2nd contract is where these guys like Steph separate themselves. I felt like Ty Lawson and Steph on was the same level for most of the 1st contract. It was the 2nd contract where Lawson regressed and Curry improved massively.

2nd contract improvement is probably the most critical unless you land a superstar type which usually you need a top pick for or you get a Jalen Williams type. Other than that, 1st contract improvement generally has a ceiling.

2nd contract is where these guys like Steph separate themselves. I felt like Ty Lawson and Steph on was the same level for most of the 1st contract. It was the 2nd contract where Lawson regressed and Curry improved massively.

Curry was on a pretty linear trajectory, actually. Joined the league as a plus player, became a genuinely good player in year two, injured but improved in year three before he was playing at a clear All-Star level in his fourth year. In his fifth year he played at an All-NBA level, in his sixth year he was the MVP before reaching ATG peak territory in year seven.
