Didn’t care to check the box score until this morning because I just shut the game off and went to bed last night but Mathurin had 20 points in 12 minutes!

Our bench which has been trash all year continued to be that throughout this series. You just can’t win with a bench as weak as the one we have. Deuce who was supposed to be our 6th man has been so underwhelming. The best game he’s had all playoffs was 11 points. We never got the offensive spark off the bench that other teams have and this was something that we discussed all throughout the year but folks brushed that off as no big deal we can just get by with what we have. We did up until this point but lack of depth proved to be too much to overcome.

We still overachieved to get to where we got to considering the flaws of the roster. Thibs did well putting the team in position to get here despite our weaknesses.

it hasn't been a great series for him but he's our guy. he's going nowhere.

if you look at all of the playoffs and not just the last couple of games, he's still very clearly the guy who performed the best for us.

Chanel tryna put us back in another pg drought for another 50 years. Nasty work!

Unless some star like Giannis puts the Knicks on his list I’m expecting the bench to be the focus. Payne replacement first.

Pacers may be our kryptonite, OG has more trouble with Pascal than any other player.

yep. og can do nothing with him. he's not really as good at guarding the traditional 4s as the wings who can go 3/4.

If the Pacers are going to make mid-range twos and Iso step back threes over defenders you can live with that.

What is unacceptable is giving up a thousand layups to Benedict Cumberpatch and leaving spot-up three-point shooters wide open.

I know.

I'm just saying, if you want to solve the team's issues and aspire to improve towards a championship (while leveraging whatever trade value you have), then that's the move to ponder. It's a strong offer for Milwaukee, especially if they're ready to accommodate Giannis's wishes.

You can try to move KAT, OG, Mikal - you're not getting a talent upgrade in return, because they're overpaid or due for an extension.

But again, I'm just saying this is the move to explore if winning a championship is the organizational priority. The political reality probably prevents it from happening.

as a thought exercise ? you would still need some kind of dynamic guard afterwards. a mcbride/mikal backcourt ? that aint gonna cut it. maybe it would if mikal wasn't this bad on offense this often. but he is.

Mikal played better when Brunson was out iirc

Talk of spurs trading #2...I talk to them, Brunson for #2, Fox and one of either Sochan or Castle.

I said what I said!

Yep. But that could be a good thing because getting a better bench might be one of the more realistic fixes we can hope to achieve more than the Giannis pipe dreams. So there is some room for upside with what we have. But our bench is ass. Not to say they have played badly in their minutes but there’s a large talent gap there

we'll have to see what happens. my feeling is despite the success that they don't run it back as is. there has been something off with this team all year.

if you have 4 guys who are gonna be making max or near max deals (mikal has to get paid after all) you can't afford a bench in this cba. another reason to believe there might have to be changes.

For me the big question for the offseason is do you trade Brunson for Giannis.

I'm not necessarily advocating for it. But you're not getting Giannis for KAT. And Giannis showed with Dame he's not interested in setting picks either - he wants to initiate, just like Jalen.

In a way this statement feels like the Isiah days. Bloated cap sheet with overpaid players and no picks.

I’m not sure how though. Main reason they didn’t improve the bench was because they were worried about that 2nd apron and laying luxury tax. We still haven’t even given Mikal his extension. We have no cap space. Do we even have any draft picks after the Bridges deal? How do we improve the depth with no cap space, picks and worrying about paying luxury taxes? Seems like the only way is to get rid of a higher salary player

Really wish we would have just been swept so I dont have to watch another game or read about how we should trade Brunson.

Well our overpaid players are at least pretty good and taking us to the ECF so there’s that. But now we want a chip

That mikal trade was terrible even if he is a nice role player.

We need cheap role players that and he was about as expensive as they come. Used all our pick resources and real soon the rest of our cap
