Get Cavs under 2nd Apron
Cleveland is 5M over second Apron and need to cut roughly 15M if they are going to be able to stay under and resign Jerome and maybe Merril. While I think the easiest move would be to trade Garland for Suggs or Cam Johnson plus picks. I’m guessing teams are willing to take Okoro and Wade for TPEs and 2nds but what teams would be interested. Any creative ways to get under?

you are like ~15M over 2nd apron, not 5 (assumign you keep wade)

218M for 11 players right now

Re: Get Cavs under 2nd Apron
I don’t know how many teams want to use 2nds and TPEs on either of those players, especially with financial leverage. I think taking them in as TPEs if they like the players is enough. If you want 2nds, the other teams may be wanting to send back at least some salary.
I would love to see Portland make a bid on Garland though.

Yeah maybe he just worded that funny, but I would have Cleveland being the team needing to add incentive if they wanted to move those guys with no salary coming back.

They can resign them both while over the Apron, it's just expensive...

Jarrett Allen for #13, Future 1st
Cleveland takes no salary back and drafts a Center of the future at #13
Atlanta uses it's Murray TPE to add a lob-threat for Trae

That's what OP said, right?
The OP used the conditional clause 'if' in their first sentence.

I imagine you could find a taker for Okoro and/or Wade into the MLE without needing to add too much incentive (2nds/cash). Depending on how our offseason goes that's a deal I'd consider for GS.

I'm not sure, the statement isn't clear to me
"Cleveland is 5M over second Apron and need to cut roughly 15M if they are going to be able to stay under and resign Jerome and maybe Merril."
They are 15 over, and they don't need to be below the Apron to re-sign them.

Then you wouldn't use the word 'if' followed by the conditional clause 'they are going to be able to stay under', right?

This appears to be what you are reading. But the if followed by a conditional statement adds a layer.
OP is simply stating two things.
1) Stay under the Apron
2) resign players

Surely, Jerome is going to get more than $10M, right?

His calculation is the part that made it unclear, cutting 15M doesn't do what he followed the if with, which makes the statement unclear.
To have meaningful space under the Apron Cave need to dump 25M, this is either Garland deal or both Okoro and Hunter.

I wouldn't be so sure...
What 1st Apron teams are out there to offer him MLE or facilitate a S&T? I can see him getting squeezed after the PO he had.

Milwaukee would/should throw MLE at him to fill dame's hole. Pelicans also have a PG void. Orlando could use him too (need to dump some salary)

Re: Get Cavs under 2nd Apron
After the playoffs, I'm not sure how many teams see him as a starter. He got exposed. Nothing wrong with being a good bench guard, but I think any team going into the season thinking he is their answer at PG is taking a pretty big gamble. Especially teams like the Bucks and Magic who see themselves as contenders and who need a legit primary PG.

ORL needs a bigger fish, NOP maybe if they get rid of CJM, with CJM and Murray, I think they'll wait until one is gone, MIL need a starter, but maybe they go at him...

Re: Get Cavs under 2nd Apron
If I am Cleveland I don’t worry about being under the Apron. They can only offer Jerome 105% of league average Salary…around 13-14 million…which I think is enough to get it done. Maybe not though. You got a good team that came up short. Try to run it back for at least one year.

I would love to see Portland make a bid on Garland though.
Wade only makes $7M, has some of the best advanced numbers on the team, and the Cavs have rebuffed inquiries from other teams. He'd be one of the last guys I'd move as a 2nd apron team.
That aside, all the reporting is that the Cavs F.O. isn't looking to dump players this summer, nor should they. There will be hundreds of millions in cap space next summer. They'll also have some difficult decisions to make next summer in terms of next contracts on Mitchell and Garland.

This is where I'm at. If Ty gets an offer for more than the league average exception, shake his hand and wish him well. If the Cavs could magically offer him more than that, I wouldn't. Before the Pacers series, he looked like he could credibly serve as injury insurance for Mitchell or Garland in the playoffs. Afterwards, not so much.
