that is just about ideal. Even if he's just GOOD for a couple of years that becomes a very valuable contract.

so, YES, please

I would be extremely happy if we got him on that deal. Extremely.

That's a great deal, even if Giddey doesn't always produce like he's done lately. The salary cap going up 10% til 2030 makes almost any long term deal right now very favorable.

I think the estimated cap in 2030 is $228M. $28M = 12% of the cap.
12% of the current cap is only $18M. We'd be effectively paying him $18M relative to contracts we're used to now.

24M per is way better than the 30M he was asking for.

BKN could ver easily offer the 30M and think it’s a bargain too.

I think Giddey wants to stay in Chicago and be the guy with the keys to the offense.

Shoot. If it's 24 per season, let's lock him up and make him our franchise guy. He's still a youngster. He would easily be a Top 2 prospect coming out of this draft. U feeling me, Chi?

I think the key words in that article are "at least". My guess is he gets more like 30+ year, but that's just a guess.

I hope that AK actually negotiates and doesn't just give him whatever he wants.

$24M would be music to my ears.

For the record, even then, I think there’s a risk he doesn’t improve and ends up being overpaid. $30M+ mark was just very dangerous. $16-20M is about fair imo (of course fair contracts don’t happen all that often, in NBA free agency).

Brooklyn might come with an offer, but they might have bigger free agent plans. I could sooner see them dumping Claxton for more cap flexibility.

At 24m per you lock him right up! But it won't be, it'll be 30m per.

Anywhere in between those numbers would be peachy.

Yeah man 5 years at 24 mil aav should be inked by the Bulls without making him test the market IMO. Even though no offers may be out there for him, I think he'll lose face and play on the QO if he doesn't get what he's asking for. Sounds like he wants to stay IMO, which is good.

That number for Giddey sounds too good to be true but I'll wait and see.

Maybe Josh is self aware and realises that despite improving rapidly as a player, he still has some very big flaws that would require certain pieces around him to be successful. I'm still not sure that Josh has the ability to be the second highest paid player on a high level team. This would put him in that third tier type.

The Giddey passing highlight reel is so much fun

Also really makes me want to add an actual good vertical threat/spacer to this lineup.

He's raw - but drafting someone like Joan Bereninger who just has such great athleticism, hands, and motor could be so much fun with a passer like Giddey (not to mention Ball and Tre Jones and Huerter all being good passers too).

Beringer is my guy! A vertical spacer like him that flies up and down the court would open up so much.

I’m all for trading the POR pick to get a later 1st to get him.

I would be extremely happy if we got him on that deal. Extremely.

You sign him immediately if he’s willing to take that deal.

Can someone tell me how much cap room we would have in free agency if Giddey does in fact take $24k a year.

24m?

With pick 12 around $23.6m under the tax
Fan Logic - Doesn’t shot 3’s = No good
It’s Giddey NOT Giddy

With the 12th pick Chicago Bulls Select: NOA ESSENGUE

If Giddey drops his price a bit and doesn’t aim for 30 M I expect him to resign before he even officially hits RFA.

Not many options for him right now unless a team is in love with him so much that they want to give him that big contract and trade for him.

Since he’s apparently willing to sign for 24, Bulls will agree around there and hopefully a bit less.

Might make sense to pay him more upfront and have a declining contract.

If that’s the minimum that means he’s not willing go lower without testing the market.
