I don't think family marketing is important. The NBA market is young adults, not families.

The issue is the current group of American stars are just not as interesting as the previous generations. They're either boneheads (Melo/Ant/Morant/ZIon etc.) or dull (Tatum/Booker/Paulo/Hali etc.)

They also just aren't as good as the previous generation. I think the way the game is played has made role players significantly better, but the stars are generally worse because they've come up in a more egalitarian development system where shooting/passing is more incentivized over isolation play.

Four of the six teams who have never paid the luxury tax are in the bottom five for playoff wins (the 5th team has only paid the tax once). Also the Pacers are remarkable.

I don't think its realistic to put Melo anywhere near Hali at this point. Hali is getting it done in the conference finals and headed to the finals. Melo is on the front end of a 3 year rebuild while his draft mates are racking up big game experience and actual non-hypothetical achievements.

With 1 championship?

He's a good HC, but Great HC's have at least multiple championships.

Putting Carlisle in the same conversation as Phil Jackson, Gregg Pop, Pat Riley, Red Auerbach just doesn't feel right.

How many championships do you think Phil Jackson would have won had he coached his entire career in Indiana and dallas?

One of the keys to unlocking how the Pacers play is that they can play with 5 out spacing without sacrificing size. This is part of the reason I'm so interested in guys like Rasheer Fleming and Hansen Yang.

I don't think the Hornets (or anyone) can necessarily copy the Pacers team building method of just being great in every aspect of an organization and nailing nearly every transaction they make, but I do think the Hornets should try to model their roster and playstlye after the Pacers because I think thats the way to unlock players like Hali/LaMelo.

edit: Charles Lee trying to force the Celtics play style on this roster is insane.

Why can't they just talk about how fun the team is to watch. Why does it always have to be about superstars. I know that's what gets the clicks and engagement. But trying to boil a team down to one player always drove me nuts about the NBA.

We're in a golden age witnessing the best basketball ever played and all they want to talk about is everything except the actual basketball.

A lot of the NBA media discourse is old heads trying to rationalize their outdated opinions.

I'm not sad I don't have TV.

Sports media is a (Please Use More Appropriate Word) flavored self licking ice cream cone.

Listening to Perkins and his buddies struggle to formulate English sentences and people just killing on dudes because they don't play in LA is so gross.

I don't understand how these platforms are allowed to exist without more uproar

I really like this idea for both teams.

Yeah, I do think that's a better deal for ORL than CLE. I actually think CLE is fine, they had injury issues but I would keep the team together and make another run next year.

So Zion was just accused of rape by someone he met while at Duke. He must really want to be a Charlotte Hornet.

Yeah. His value is negative now, regardless of what is true. Toxic. Nobody can touch that until more info comes out.

Zion for Bridges should be a fair swap at this point.

Also not buying this accusation why wait so long. People are desperate for money these athletes got a just be prepared and deal with what comes with having millions of dollars.
