I prefer Simons to almost everyone we discuss...but if we're considering dangling the 26 frp "gamblers delight"...I want Reaves or Derrick White.

If it went for Simons or White, I'd expect additional good stuff like sending out guaranteed salaries and/or addtl. players or picks

He may bet on himself that he can get more than that. He would become a free agent after 1 year here?

Unless he'd accept the 4-yr $89m on July 1st. Him and Cam Johnson seem close if you could trade for them both.

He is interesting to me. Never know what the Bulls are going to do though. Like in a world where he is guaranteed to remain a 20 ppg guy at a 58+ TS% and they think they will be able to re-sign him in the offseason then 16+25 could make sense. Would try to get the Bulls to give us pick 45 here , give me more 2nd round shots if we are taking on another expensive guy.

But I almost feel like there are just too many variables to the point where it would just make more sense to grab Simons?

I have more confidence in Coby than Simons in our starting lineup.

I don’t think he will be a 20 point player per game. He is a 3rd/4th option potentially.

I think I agree in a vacuum. All things the same I would probably take Coby. He also was showing scoring deep into the 20s in the last couple of months, if he can sustain anything near that he is extremely valuable.

I'm just thinking given trade cost and less extension certainty I wonder if Simons just is a safer bet.

No way Bulls take on an extra year of KCP over Vooches expiring.

Maybe the 2 picks this season for Coby and the Phoenix pick for Cam. If Cam was getting traded here also, Coby might be more likely to sign the $89m extension.

I seriously doubt Cam is coming to Orlando to ride the bench.

Cam was 3rd in the 6th man of the year voting when he played for Phoenix. If Suggs was injured, you could start Franz at the two

Coby
Franz
Cam
Paolo
Wendell

Cam misses so many games due to injury. He averages 57 games a season played over his career.

He'd be expiring in 2 years anyway.

I don’t want to depend on new additional injuried players. Seems like a bad direction even for 2 years only.

There is a high potential lottery pick involved...and there is just one season of KCP (who could actually help in CHI) vs Vuc.

The Coby extension is scary...also, the fact that he was, essentially, irrelevant until he exploded 2 seasons ago...got to be sure it's not situational - that's above my pay grade. He nearly doubled his scoring, assists, and rebounds while maintaining efficient % overnight...that's exciting & a little nerve-wracking.

Skybox wrote:This is based on my (correct? :o ) understanding of the potentially tremendous value of next year's swap rights. It still seems too good to be true.

*lots of people want to throw expirings at BOS but that doesn't help them, financially, in the short term. Next year, they're not likely to contend, but the following year - with Tatum back, they'll be back in the mix. So having a bunch of salary drop off next summer is interesting, but they'll still likely be way above the cap, so it's not like they'll be signing a big free agent. Isaac is a really interesting situation, if he's traded before July 1 - his "trade price" is $25m, but his actual cap hit for next year is only $15m (If I've got it right)...that's pretty enticing for BOS. I think only BRK or DET can just absorb significantly more than they send out, so with Isaac actually being an impactful player AND a straight dump of $10m being additional incentive, he could be on BOS' radar. I'd be happy but not overly excited about getting Jrue and the 26 frp wouldn't be in play, imo...but Derrick White is another story. BOS gets an impactful player in Isaac, slides Pritchard into the starting spot next to Jrue and, if the chips fall the right way, they pull off a Len Bias high draft pick next summer, despite being already loaded with great players.

*but I guess that also means EVERY player in the trade is at their present salary - not just Isaac (?)

ORL sends: Jonathan Isaac (25m - drops to $15m), ORL 26 frp with high lottery swap potential
BOS sends: Derrick White (20m-jumps to $28.1m), Sam Hauser (2.1m - jumps to $10m)

Trade machines don't like it...not sure where the problem is.

Obviously, this does create more of a crunch for ORL - which we would have to address elsewhere

BOS saves $23m in 25-26, which is a non-Tatum year, then watches the lottery like they haven't done in years. Derrick White is a big give, but everybody is aging next year (White will turn 32 when Tatum re-emerges next summer) as well as getting paid in a non-contending year for BOS. Not fun to think about for fans, but financial reality of the 2nd Apron and repeater penalties as well as player movement handcuffs are very real for ANY ownership group.

I don't expect that a realistic fan can expect some kind of "stay in contention" haul for KP or Jrue.

I'm waiting for the "Nah, we'll just trade Jrue for a younger, better player" from BOS fans...the same way ORL fans simply expect to trade Cole for Jokic.

They want our 16th pick bad. They are willing to accept Cole and the #16 for Coby.

I’m buying if that’s the cost and Coby resigns for under 30 million a year.

Am I the only Cole fan here. Cole and Coby sound like similar type of player. Cole's biggest problem is consistency. But he struggled bad past season hence Cory Joseph was the staring PG towards the end of the season. It should be Cole's job. But anyway, yes, he disappointed. But I do not know how the FO is valueing Cole. On paper it is a good deal. Coby is a bucket getter last season at CHI. He could improve our offense. But is he resigning with the Magic? For how much? (I am a Cole fan 8-) )

Also I think the biggest factor is how much Orlando FO values the 16th pick. Maybe there is someone else they want to target. Idk

I think this draft is 20 deep, and teams want to acquire picks to get into the top 20. The Bulls fans are weighing on whether they want to keep Coby or get Coward and Sorber.

Sorber
P Williams
Coward
Buzellis
Giddey

Cole
Ball
