5. Pascal Siakam (2022)

37.9 min, 22.8 pts, 8.5 reb, 5.3 ast, 1.3 stl, .565 TS%, .151 WS/48, 3.5 BPM

Image

4. Chris Bosh (2010)

36.1 min, 24.0 pts, 10.8 reb, 2.4 ast, 1.0 blk, .592 TS%, , .182 WS/48, 3.6 BPM

A close PF battle. Siakam is the better passer and defender than Bosh who was saving energy on that end compared to Miami, but Bosh is the better scorer with a superb isolation and free throw drawing game and being one of the best midrange shooters, making him an easy fit in an offense compared to a point forward. When judging their tenures as best players overall, I prefer Siakam's supporting cast more despite the bench, so that he only made the playoffs 1 time to Bosh's carry job 2 (and both's near miss in 23 for Siakam and 10 for Bosh being close) looks worse. In 2010 Bosh's offensive stats are helped by Triano ball, but still, a starting lineup of Calderon, Derozan, Hedo and Bargnani is such an awful fit on defense that getting them to 41 wins is impressive impact.

Antonio Davis' run in 2002 is one of the most memorable. We lost to the pistons but it was still an impressive series being without vince.

3. Kyle Lowry (2016)

37.0 min, 21.2 pts, 6.4 ast, 4.7 reb, 2.1 stl, 38.8% 3pt, .578 TS%, 5.8 BPM

There was a time when the Raptors made winning 50 games every year look much easier than it was. I don't think it was Derozan or Valanciunas who've gone on to be play-in gods, the bench in a year like this of Joseph, Patterson, Ross, Biyombo, etc. is better than today's but not the most stacked in the world, the coach was Casey. The supporting cast is probably worse than like what Jokic is playing with right now or Dirk was when he made the finals the first time. The biggest credit has go to Lowry providing franchise player impact running the offense, playing D, having great results with bench players, and also the lockerroom having a fantastic culture. He may be the most valuable regular season player on this list, but in the playoffs his offense dropped. 2016 and 2017 are his peaks, but he had more help in 2017 with the beforementioned peak Derozan season.

2. Vince Carter (2001)

39.7 min, 27.6 pts, 5.5 reb, 3.9 ast, 40.8% 3pt, .551 TS%, .208 WS/48, 7.6 BPM

Vince's offensive stats look more impressive when considering he played in the worst possible condition for his stats, playing in lower spacing early 2000s on a team where he takes all the defensive attention. He led the league in OBPM in a league with prime Shaq in it. With modern day spacing and pace, this version is going for over 30 a game. While he had an average series against the Knicks, he put up a fantastic 30ppg against the Sixers to push it to the last shot in game 7. Like Davis, it plays well on him that this season came when could've taken a step back after losing Tmac and Christie.

1. Kawhi Leonard (2019)

34.0 min, 26.6 pts, 7.3 reb, 3.3 ast, 37.1% 3pt, .606 TS%, .224 WS/48, 7.2 BPM

While they didn't need him the most in the regular season, in the playoffs he proved to have the most valuable skillset in Raptors history with his ability to get his shot off and score in any situation and defense. His 34.7pt a game on .634 TS% against the Sixers with an otherwise struggling team and bench (FVV averaged 2ppg on 12.5%!) with multiple series changing shots is incredible, then he changed the Bucks series by guarding Giannis. Despite how it felt like he peaked in first two rounds on offense, he never had a bad series, putting up 28ppg+ on above average efficiency the last two rounds is not a bad series, if anything considering his physical condition and the huge defensive load in the Bucks series it's underrated. He put his long term health on the line on a team he knew he was leaving to make dinosaur championship time happen.

That's a wrap! Thank you for those who read drawn out thread that tried some impossible tasks at times like ranking role players vs good stats on bad team guys.

Kudos, this was a fun read. And at a time of year when salaried Raptors reporters are writing articles like “should the Raptors have kept OG and Siakam together??”

DeRozan is too low imo. His top season beats Gasol.

Good work btw.
