They're a great team but gonna be hard to be a best team when Brunson/KAT are a terrible defensive duo. You can't hide both.

Combining KAT and Bridges to consolidate for an upgrade could be an option but the targets that would be an upgrade and available aren't obvious. AD could be a fit but Dallas /Nico aren't moving off him for KAT. Giannis is a pipe dream and he's too ball dominant to be a great fit next to Brunson. And they'd need to trade Mitch for a stretch big.

It's Brunson's team, of that there is no doubt. Leon Rose is his godfather, they hired his Dad as a (tampering) means to get him, etc. They will die on that hill (and die they will, you can't win with that guy as your top player IMO).

I think they revert to the Knicks of old and double down somehow. Should be a fascinating summer.

knicks have no contracts to add to their existing team (an no picks to sweeten) - all they can do is re-shuffle.

as for giannis - if he wants to go to ny, then he'll end up in ny. that's just how the cookie crumbles.

Let's see how Pascal fares against OKC.

Game 2 : 6pts 2 for 11
Game 4: 5pts 1 for 7
Their Defense is elite but he is just choking as the pressure of the playoffs is rising.
Siakam has nothing to prove there having already scored 30+points on his first NBA Finals over DPOY Draymond (and we all heard what Draymond said the other night)

I'm interested in revisiting this discussion in the Finals one way or another.

will do :) . just keep in mind, no matter what happens in these NBA Finals, the same Pascal went 10-17 26pts 10 rebounds (in 46 mins/not OT) in a NBA finals CLOSING game with that biggest layup in Franchise history to this day on DPOY Draymond.

If you look at Thibs. Brunson and OG, they seem to each be frustrated Ann pissed off at Kat. I can see KD for Kat, but Kat has 3 years left, not sure if PHX takes him. They may have better deals

Idk why people kept acting like a 68 win team with the 2nd best net rating in NBA history was going to lose to any of those West teams. Like people were convincing themselves Lakers could beat them??

The only team that had the combination of offense and defense to beat them was Boston and maybe Cavs. The rest of these teams are just there and would have been a huge choke for OKC to lose to anyone not Boston. This includes the Pacers.

All your points could be right, but it might be some lesser tweaks to the roster, and especially a different coach might unlock them by playing differently. KAT is a very good passer, not Jokic but good, and the offense should run through him as a high post hub more. Like Marc Gasol but a bigger shooting threat. The combination of Kat and Brunson on D is hard to overcome though, not sure which coach could solve that.

I'm seeing KD mentioned here, not sure if any basis for that. But a bucket getter like that, even short of a 6'11 Hall of famer like KD, would help.

You know how sad it is, you’d think for an mvp they’d talk about how awesome he is and how he makes everything look easy when he makes a jumper. But they barely hype him up at all.
