As always, Bulls wait way too long to do the obvious. It's infuriating.
Why so serious?

Am I misremembering -- did we pass on a trade with the Warriors for 2nd round picks? Or am I just confusing it with the Drummond/Sixers trade we didn't do?

I think there was def some 2nds offered for Drummond. I’m not sure if there was an actual offer from GSW for Vuc but this was from Brett Siegel back in Feb:

The Bulls, sources said, were said to want a lightly protected first-round pick and an additional second-round pick from the Warriors. This wasn't a price Golden State or any other team around the league wanted to pay for Vucevic.

Teams know the negative perception and value of their players and front office so they try to screw the bulls over in deals.

AK got owned by Orlando as well. So everyone trying pull one over on him.

If you aren’t top 6 team in conference team hard to gather fair value.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

When Hawks managed to trade Joe Johnson I knew then that no contract was truly untradable

It's harder now with that second apron, but it should be made easier that Vuc is expiring and teams only have to account for next season. If we're willing to take back a bad salary we could probably get a first out of it even.

Vuc had a pretty good year!

He does a few things really well.. Good rebounder, good shooter, Decent passer...

And his contract is pretty decent. As a backup 5 or in a twin towers config? maybe?

Just don't expect him to play D...at all

I think it is less definitive, but there were rumors that we were hung up on compensation, then the Warriors got Jimmy Butler instead and no longer could do our deal. From a practical sense, it feels more likely to me that our deal was more of a backup given that if they were negotiating on Butler it feels unlikely they'd have a firm offer for us that would sink that deal.

Vuc can easily be traded I'm sure, but not without taking back players that we don't have roster spots for.

It might be easier to trade Collins, which is fine with me. He's a bit better than Vuc and paid a bit less.

All I care about is that we have three Cs in the rotation next season, and that one of them is Smith, and that another one of them is a draftee (12 or 45) or a FA. That means one of Vuc or Collins needs to go.

I'd be surprised if Chicago takes on more salary because AK has been meticulous about keeping the roster almost completely empty for 2026.

I wonder if there were any deals where the Bulls take on salary, but get an asset for doing so...? Maybe negotiations never got that far...? I'm curious if AK passed on a trade like that because he's insistant on not taking on salary.

The Bulls front office is frustrating. AK doesn't think, or plan, very far into the future.

Word was that Bulls would have to take on bad salary and they were unwilling to do so.

Vuc to Spurs makes some sense. Can play in place of and with Wemby pretty easily. Vuc is a leader and the young Spurs can use that. Playing next to a defensive shot blocker in Wemby or plus defender in Sochan his defensive issues will be mitigated some.

Vuc for Barnes and Pick 38?

Vuc to the Lakers for Rui makes some sense. They have Finney-Smith and Lebron at PF and could use a C even if its not the shot blocker they really want. Rui fits our style very well and helps if we don't go F in round 1. We probably don't get a pick in that trade. Just a chance to see if Rui fits at PF

Vuc to Memphis makes sense. He is best next to a shotblocker PF. He could play next to Edey or Jackson. They have two contracts they probably would like to get out of but they add a year in Konchar and Clarke.

Im not sure what we would take for that though.

That would be about as good as we could do on-court for Vuc for sure. Rui could back up Matas, opening up a good competition at C between Smith, Collins and hopefully #12. Patrick backs up Vuc at the 3, Ball and Huerter split the 2, and Ayo backs up Coby at the 1 spot.

Vuc also started coming back down to earth with his 3P shooting. Bulls needed to trade him ASAP at the hot start, but in Bulls fashion we wait until assets depreciate.

GS was reported to be seriously interested when Vuc was shooting 48% from 3...

Coby shouldnt be at 1 spot at all, he is SG..

I think Lakers feel Rui is overpayment for Vooch haha.. we would probably get someone else offered, like Hayes in a sign and trade and maybe even Knecht

Like many people I define position by who you guard, which makes Coby our 1. That's why I call Ball a 2 and Giddey a 3.

I don't see why we'd have any interest in Hayes.

AK is probably going to want draft capital, which means Vuc is the starting center for the Bulls next season.

The Magic could have interest in bringing back Vuc.
