Pettiford was mocked to the Hornets by some. But we already have a short PG. If Miles Byrd stays in he could be a target.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Hornets REALLY need to find a team that wants those 2 seconds to move back into round 1. Whoever is the highest bidder, take it. I’m not as sold on Yang, but with this return to school rate he may go late 1st! We need one of those bigs that are likely to be available between 19 and 28.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

nil gonna ruin 2nd round picks. I guess they have to come out of school eventually. Just sucks that in such a deep draft we had two really high 2nd round picks and now???

he could become Chinese Jokic or he could bust but still gain Charlotte Chinese revenue.

win/win

They blew it when they had the chance to draft Sengun. The only way to make up for it is to draft Yangun.

Rename the team Charlotte Yang's. Make the jersey/colors red and yellow. And everyone on the team is required to have a bowl cut hairdo, including Melo.

Wow I didn't realize this was the kind of cash being splashed
Lendeborg received a NIL package believed to be in the neighborhood of $3 million to return to school, sources indicated to CBS Sports.

Damn, Byrd and Philon also went back to school.

I had Yaxel Landebourge 24th
LaBaron Philon 28th
Myles Byrd 36th
Alex Condon 37th
Tahaad Pettiford 37th
Otega Oweh 45th

So definitely hurt the 2nd round, but as far as 33rd and 34th, most of these guys shouldn't have affected us a ton. If we can snag one of these guys that falls out of the first that I have ranked in the 20s that would be great, and then maybe someone like Thiero or Lanier with the other pick I would be happy.

21 Maxime Raynauld
22 Walter Clayton
23 Ryan Kalkbrenner
24 Jase Richardson
25 Joan Beringer
26 Will Riley
27 Hugo Gonzalez
28 Asa Newell
29 Noah Penda
30 Liam McNeeley
31 Ben Saraf
32 Sion James
33 Adou Thiero
34 Chaz Lanier
35 Tyrese Proctor
36 Drake Powell
37 Neoklis Avdalas
38 Rocco Zikarsky
39 Hansen Yang
40 Dink Pate

whats the deal with kobe brea? keep hearing he is the best shooter in the draft? is he unplayable otherwise? could he be that random sniper that teams like miami always throw in the game vs us for 8 minutes while they go 4 of 5 from 3 then disappear back to the bench?

Givony: Not only did we see the lowest number of early-entrant candidates (106) in a decade, but another dozen or so draftable prospects withdrew at the deadline, making this one of the shallowest second rounds we've seen in a few years.

NBA teams have expressed surprise and concerns about this development, wondering how effectively they will be able to assemble summer league and G League rosters relative to years past, but most believe this is a temporary bottleneck (one caused by the abnormal amount of money) that will clear in the next year or two as the players who elected to return to school this year exhaust their NCAA eligibility.

the smart move was seeing this coming and punting 2nd rp down the road.... kinda like having all your player's contracts expire in summer 2016 when every team had cap space. bad series of events for hornets. always.

leave it to the Hornets to finally start stockpiling seconds only after NIL nerfs the second round

We actually only have one extra this year and no extras until 2029, when we have 3 in 2029, 2 in 2031, and 3 in 2032. None of those are protected at all. By that point the NIL bottleneck will be solved so actually pretty prudent to get them that far out.

The NBA are going to have to give second rounders better contracts in the CBA or otherwise they'll have to wait until players are seniors unless they are promised to be picked in the lottery.

Thinking about it, maybe it's a good thing for everyone, more players getting more experience in college before getting drafted. Either way there will be a few years of shallow drafts in the second round while the NIL factor plays out.
