Couldn't find the auto off topic thread. How do you get dirt scuffs out of the hard plastic where the feet cross to go outside down by the the floorboard. And on the hard plastic on the doors were feet aref and kick.

Nah, kid time and too nervous, pissed if they start slow, which has been a tendency in the playoffs.

We were all scattered around the hotel's breakfast area this morning. They actually mentioned a dress code for the workshop as "business casual", which I determined to mean that fronting up wearing a long sleeve henley shirt, trousers and a pair of Doc Martens would cover- I thought I looked good. Everyone of those **** that waved/said hi at breakfast was wearing a collared shirt or a suit- they'd all just skipped the tie.
Oof. The Prisoner's Dilemma comes to workwear.
I'm fortunate to not have worked in a business casual work environment for basically a decade. At the bank and national accounting firm it was suit and tie, but that was ass. CPG companies it's a different story. Jeans, t-shirt, hell, even a few times I've worn nice joggers. I refuse to go back to "professional" dress when I sit in an office or a conference room with the same 10 people.
It's such a vague thing, and they never mention a dress code so it was a bit of a crapshoot when they did. I work for a big IT company, generally it's pretty casual unless you're off to a client (and even then its personal judgement, really). The workshop was all execs and people who do roles related to sales (I do some pre-sales work) so lots of people who like to impress.
We were staying in a fairly nice hotel and the restaurant that had their breakfast area is in a big atrium that relies on natural light, but the weather was pretty overcast and miserable- so it was rather moody/subdued lighting as I sat there thinking "I've misjudged this".
Other workplace observation- we had a relatively lavish dinner on the first night, I'm not currently drinking and it was probably the first work event I've attended that I can remember where there was the option to drink and I didn't. Sheesh- people really put it away when they get a chance on the company's dime! I wasn't too judgy as that's usually me, but it did make me smile as I toddled back to the hotel and had a relatively early night (lots of people a little worse for wear the next day).

My workplace has a "dress for your day" policy, which makes perfect sense. If I know I'm making an appearance in court or meeting a client, I'll have a full suit. If I'm appearing by zoom? I'll throw on a tie and jacket I keep in the office. If neither applies? I'm usually wearing a polo/comfortable collared shirt and jeans.

Re: OT: General Off Topic Thread [No Politics, Race, Religion, etc.]
I've been going to the driving range twice a week trying to teach myself to golf so I can play with my father in law and his brothers in June when his brothers visit from Australia. I've taken group lessons before, probably like 5 years ago. And then I took a few one on one lessons a couple years ago. But I just never really played so everything I learned would quickly fade away. Anywho, been to the range probably around 6 times this month and finally worked up the courage to try the par 3 9 hole course that they have here. Ended up going unbelievably well. Didn't lose a single ball, really only had one bad swing all day where I hit a perfectly straight ground ball and was able to chip from there up onto the green. Ended up with two pars and 7 bogeys. Aside from not being able to get a birdie on any of my greens in regulation, I don't think it could have possibly went better.MickeyDavis wrote:What are you guys doing over the long weekend? It's pretty nice in SE Wisconsin. I'm going to a beer garden later this afternoon. Then my son is coming over for some grilling (just burgers) and then watch the game tonight. Tomorrow is open.

Re: OT: General Off Topic Thread [No Politics, Race, Religion, etc.]
Found a place, extremely happy with it, and I like that I've got a nice month-long on-ramp to move in. But I'm on the hook for July and August if I don't get my current place rented by 7/1. So I'm taking the next two days off and getting going on packing up, cleaning, and moving stuff to storage.
My main takeaway is I don't understand how I have so much kitchen sh*t. I have a tiny kitchen with barely any storage. It's a big reason I'm moving in the first place. Somehow I have about 20 skillets, every possible small kitchen appliance, at least ten pots, and god knows how many pans and dishes. It doesn't seem possible.

I think my favorite hidden benefit of moving is finally having a reason to get rid of **** you don't need. So many kitchen things we never used, so many old boxes of crap in the basement, so much kids stuff. Then you get settled and slowly accumulate all that stuff again.

I always purge things I don't use when I move, and then buy more things I don't use.

Now you understand what your real passion is all about.
Good luck with the move.

Anyone out there use a griddle like a Blackstone or Camp Chef? I'm getting a free Camp Chef Gridiron 36 coming in (I love working in CPG industry) and need to know some recipes outside of stir fry, breakfast, and smash burgers.
