Powell is 2nd round talent. AKME is looking at Powell for defense? His defensive metrics are awful.

But he can jump really high...

This one is surprising. I thought his Combine performance was enough for a 1st round promise. Maybe he got advice that he'd be lottery next year if he stayed.

CBS has Powell going #18 (first round) after the combine. They have both Powell & Coward going in that range now.

I didn't say anything from Powell this year that leads me to believe he would add anything that Phillips/Terry don't already bring. Better be for a second round pick. Maybe someone they'd like to see on a 2 way contract.

When KC name drops…I listen. First I’ve really heard of Drake Powell and 12 seems like a reach….

Definitely was not a high impact guy in his only season at UNC, but I do like that he was a 5-star recruit ranked around #10 in the freshman class I suppose

Throw pre-draft rankings out and he's exactly who a team like the Thunder would draft. Shades of JDub dare I say.

Powell crushed the combine. After digging deeper I’m in on this kid. The tools are impressive, if he stayed another year at UNC he would be drafted top 10. He was projected top 10 pick coming into the year too. Looks like an athletic freak, great defender, and can shoot it.

Niedermeyer staying in the draft. I would love me some Niedermeyer in the second round

bro do not tell me we are considering using the #12 pick on a guy who put up a 7/4/1 line in college

Yeah. That’s no bueno.

Powell is a superb defender but he’s a long ways away on offense.

Coward is a much better pick.

I sure hope someone drops so AK has a no brainer decision to make.

I'm more invested in this draft than I have been in quite a few years. It really is deep, and on a given day I could go a number of ways. Maxime Raynaud remains my top pick in the realistic range, but there are so many great options that I'm going to break it down by tiers (again not including unrealistic draft targets).

Tier One (I'd be thrilled with anyone on this list and think that in five years from now they will be considered major steals)
Maxime Raynaud
Egor Demin
Cedric Coward
Collin Murray-Boyles

Tier Two (I think these will be solid pros, but I'm less sold on them having star ability)
Derik Queen
KJ
Khaman Maluch
Asa Newell
Rasheer Fleming

Tier Three (These players are really intriguing but have insanely high bust factors)
Carter Bryant
Danny Wolf
Noa Essengue
Drake Powell
Yaxel Lendeborg

Not Interested In At 12:
Thomas Sorber
Jase Richardson
Joan Berringer
Liam McNeeley

Crazy athlete great tools defensively and a nice stroke. Star potential. Would be a big swing on talent but if it hits he could be one the drafts best.

I’m not happy with Hubert Davis at UNC he’s not developing talent as he should be. Powell isn’t the first recruit to be underwhelming at UNC I think Hubert Davis is definitely on the hot seat if next season is another let down.

Gamble on that instead of Queen hopefully getting on the Ozempic

I like the fit with Flemming. He could be a positive disruptive force defensively with high end switchability. That 7'5" wingspan is impressive. He's got an NBA body. And he looks like a real threat from "3", especially corner 3s. We have enough guards and wings. We need some size. Flemming could be a very effective "4" paired with Matas at the "3", with Coby and Giddey in the backcourt. Then we'd just need a rim protecting center and we'd be set.

You'd take all 4 guys over Maluach? I'm not a big Maluach fan but you're lower on him than I am.

He wasn't a project lottery pick coming into the year. Powell was outside the top 10 in recruiting rankings. He shot an okay 37% from 3 on 2.6 attempts but was 64% from the line. So not sure he will shoot well in the NBA. Even his D was pretty bad this year, not sure why you called him great. It's all projections with him based on physical gifts. Think Patrick Williams 2.0.

It's always interesting seeing others come to pretty polar opposite opinions on players around draft time.

Richardson and Berringer are two of my more highly desired players at the moment

Yeah I'm gonna keep banging the Jase Richardson drum:

41% on 3's
45% on catch and shoot 3's
50% on unguarded 3's

Can shoot off the dribble

43% on mid-range attempts

69% FG% at the rim (64% in the half court) - this is elite for a guard

"his game is built for translating at the next level" - a quote in the video

Compares him to Conley and Fred Van Vleet

Mine isn't hugely divergent
Tier 1-The offense is too good that you have to ignore the shortcomings and redundancies

C-Derik Queen-Maryland
G-Tre Johnson-Texas
G-Jeremiah Fears-Oklahoma
PG-Kasparas Jakuciois-Illinois

Tier 2-Versatile Forwards-The most likely picks
F-Rasheer Fleming-St Joseph's
F-Collin Murray-Boyles-S Carolina
F-Carter Bryant-Arizona
F-Noa Essengue-Germany

Tier 3-Interesting bigs-I'd take in this order
C-Maxime Raynaud-Stanford
F-Asa Newell-Georgia
C-Khaman Maluach-Duke

Tier 4-Rotational Forwards
W-Kon Kneuppel-Duke
F-Noah Penda-France

Return to Chicago Bulls
