Gobert to the Peach State with Chicago
ATL Out: Onyeka Okongwu, Terrence Mann, #22
ATL In: Rudy Gobert
CHI Out: Nikola Vucevic, Jevon Carter, #12
CHI In: Onyeka Okongwu, Terrence Mann #22
MIN Out: Rudy Gobert
MIN In: Nikola Vucevic, Jevon Carter, #12
Maybe Chicago just cuts Atlanta out, or Minnesota cuts Chicago out, but that's a major point of discourse here we can all hash out.
Atlanta expedites their time around Trae, retaining their lottery pick but looks at the East as wide-open and becomes a team shooting for more than the Play-In while reuniting Gobert with Snyder
Chicago moves down in the draft to add two long-term pieces who fit well with their current core and are locked in to MLE-type deals
Minnesota cuts salary and adds a late lottery pick for a game-changing Center

Re: Gobert to the Peach State with Chicago
Dont think Chicago should turn 12 into 3 bench pieces. if anything they should stay put (or trade up) to try to get their C of future.
It's ok for minny value wise but it makes them noticably worse for next year so i'm skeptical they would be okay with that
Like it for Atlanta if they keep trae. if they wont then its not a good idea either

Okongwu isn't a bench piece.
13/9/2.5 with 1.8 stocks, 1.3 BPM, 90 TS+ (Positive TS+ every season of career), Positive On/Off every year. Slightly undersized as a center but as a starter this year he put up 15/10/3 with 2.1 Stocks with 36% from 3P.

Re: Gobert to the Peach State with Chicago
I think I'd prefer to cut Chicago if I were Minnesota.
Locking in Okongwu/Mann on decent deals seems nice for them. Could look to move Mann if they believe in their young wing depth (think of a PG to target?).

Nothing wrong with OO, but Chicago is nowhere near the point in their rebuild where they should consider trading a lottery pick for “solid” players

Yup, I should have gone with my hunch when making the deal to just cut out Chicago. I was thinking about Shrink's idea of adding Vucevic and let that sidetrack me too much.
Does Mann for Gafford make sense?

Re: Gobert to the Peach State with Chicago
Yeah agree with everyone here that MIN is better off without CHI in this. Vuc is very duplicative with Reid in terms of what they each can/can't bring so OO is a better compliment. Mann fits well as a bench piece pretty much everywhere.
I think ATL would have to pony up the lottery pick themselves here. OO/Mann/#13 for Gobert seems... fair to me.
Trae/Daniels/Risacher/JJ/Gobert is a preeeeeety nice core for ATL though IMO. love the complimentary nature of everything there. I think you have to stay on the lookout to eventually move Risacher plus other stuff for someone that's more of a scoring compliment to Trae on the wing (doesn't seem Risacher will be that guy but you never know). Still feels like a LOT of their offense would be dependent on Trae having the ball all the time so a scoring wing would diversify it a bit more.

I think you may be selling Risacher, Jalen Johnson and Trae as an offensive piece a little short. Risacher is only 20 and there is no reason he can't be an 18-20 PPG scorer in the next 2-3 years.
If Risacher and Jalen never get to the level of an elite 2nd option, then Atlanta will have a wealth of assets to trade for one, including the 2027 NOP/MIL 1st and all their 1sts in 2028 and beyond.
Risacher will also hold the value as the main centerpiece to acquire a real #2 option.

Gobert for OO/Mann/13 seems like a good starting point for a deal, if Minnesota is looking to move on from Gobert (which would be a mistake, IMO, but a possibility)

13 is not worth much more than 22/31 in any stats based analysis I've ever seen.

teams dont use stats based analysis to weigh value of draft picks. based on precedents 13 is closer to 18 + 22 or so

Vucevic is not a winning player and no contender would try and acquire him. I think Chicago gets cut out of this deal. A deal centered on Rudy for Okongwu makes pretty good sense for both teams.

Re: Gobert to the Peach State with Chicago
I'd say the Bulls are good with Okongwu,
They need a lot more to move down to #22 from #12
Mann is a nice piece for a contender but the Bulls merely swap one guard in Carer for another in Mann so they have too many guards and he's not good enough to start, isn't much of a shooter and makes WAY TOO MUCH money for WAY TOO long for a reserve
No deal

Yeah I mean if the difference is 13 for 31 and 22, we are splitting hairs.

Maybe I am selling them short, but it's not really about how many points they score, it's more about how they score. Jalen Johnson was assisted on 63% of his 2s and 96% of his 3s last year. Risacher was 73% and 98%. Not saying that those guys won't get better at creating their own shot (especially Risacher as he's only 19), but I'm not sure I really forecast either of them really being "that guy". Daniels is ore of an off ball cutter too and Gobert's only offensive game is a lob threat. I think over the course of a regular season you'd have plenty of guys scoring good per game totals, but a lot of it would be dependent on Trae creating for them and come playoff time not sure that's great. I think you'd eventually want to swap Risacher for someone on the wing who can diversify that some.

ATL In: Rudy Gobert
I'd use #22 to dump Mann and just re-sign NAW and NAZ.
