Re: Trade Talk (Part 17): Early Offseason Planning
The people who are suggesting we move Rudy and Randle. What the actual ****.
Thought Rudy was a top 10 player? Thought he was our savior. Now y'all want to move him as he was the reason we traded KAT?
And get rid of Randle too? Some are saying to just let him walk.
What will we have if those two are just gone without decent return?
If all of this is true can I finally get validation for the immensely **** situation TC has put us in?

Re: Trade Talk (Part 17): Early Offseason Planning
Honestly. The Heat aren't a bad choice of trade partner.
Dillingham, Rudy, Finch for
Bam, Mitchell, and Spolestra
And then in the same vein
Julius Randle, DDV, Conley for Durant
Trade #17 to the Bulls for Giddey
Resign NAW.
Rollout with
Mitchell / Giddey
Edwards / NAW
McDaniels / TSJ
Durant/ (resign KA?) on the min?
Bam/ Reid

I feel like that would tank his value. He's terrible on ball - both creating for himself and others. His biggest strength is Catch and Shoot.

No interest. Small and hurt all the time. Terrible defender and he comes up small in the postseason every year.

Darius Garland would be a terrific option if available, but I really do not see a pathway to Minnesota being able to get him for a comfortable amount.

Agreed. Id love Garland here so much. Hes basically the best case for Dillingham. Elite shooter, great passer and lightning quick. Still only 25 too.
Would need a 3rd team who likes Randle a good amount and have something the Cavs would like.

Garland is a small PG, which I don’t love. But he should have been on an all-NBA team this year. He was incredible. I’d move Dilly, Randle, etc for him, but no chance Cleveland moves him without a Gobert-like return.
On Twitter, I saw some suggest a McDaniels plus assets/filler proposal for Garland. That would be something I would consider, but would be a tough pill.

I wouldn’t include Jaden for Darius but I would consider him in other potential deals. I like Jaden but his confidence wains way too much. Not sure what his trade value is around the league though.
Otherwise, there’s no untouchables on this team aside from Ant by default.

God no...
Garland is 0-8 in two ECS series. 34.6 MPG: 15.8 PPG (38/26/95), 5.4 APG, 2.5 TO, 2.8 RPG.
Only hit 70 games 1 time in his career and he makes 127M over the next 3 years.
There is a reason he's rumored to be available...

Thoughts on Kuminga? If there was a path to acquire him, would anyone be interested? How might he fit?

I think he’s not a winning player. Kerr even said as much and that was the rumor when he came out of G League Ignite. Crazy talent but absolutely no BBIQ. I don’t want him. We have enough low BBIQ.

I think we made him a lot of money because he's exactly the archtype that we struggle to defend. Long, quick athletic, inconsistent shooter, etc.
Guys like Kuminga, Kuzma, Toppin, Hachimura all look like Max players when they play us.

Rudy was a Top 10-15 player prior to 2023 and was definitely a Top 10-20 player in 2024.
I am not a timberwolves fan, rather an NBA fan.
I proposed Rudy Gobert for he cost controlled Onyeka Okongwu, Terrance Mann as a NAW replacement, and pick #22 in the NBA draft.
As an outside fan, Rudy Gobert has provided Minnesota with two exceptional seasons, two of their 3 best seasons in their franchises putrid history. That is worth what they paid.
What I am proposing is a trade where Minnesota gets another 1st back, a starting-caliber Center/PF who has been developing a shot and is incredibly switchable. No more crowded paint for Anthony Edwards. A 1-5 switchable scheme with ANT/McDaniels/Randle/Onyeka is awesome to think about.

I’d rather get #13 but I think I make that move for Rudy.

Yeah maybe you guys send #31 to Atlanta and they kick in #13 instead of #22.

Yeah it is. But no way the Hawks give that up for an aging Gobert.

Hmm, not sure. They have a ton of future assets and Trae is in his prime. Their wing rotation of Daniels/Risachere/Jalen Johnson is elite but they are missing a lob-threat and elite rim protector. They have a ton of cap flexibility currently and over the next 3-4 seasons, which means they can both afford Gobert and make additional moves.
They still are drafting in the lottery this year, so they aren't sacrificing young talent.
Quin Snyder loves Gobert and knows how to utilize him. Trae is an exceptional lob-passer, something your Timberwolves have lacked to fully maximize Gobert.
I see a lot of reasons for Atlanta to pull the trigger. Teams trade for aging players all the time.

I'm a Gobert fan, but I make that trade.
I love Okongwu. I was banging that drum to go get him in his draft and I'm super happy he's starting to hit his potential. Mann is a solid bench piece.
