i actually like powell as a late first developmental dice-roll. would be exciting to have a ++ athleticism guy in the fold if you can pick up a pick in the 20s somehow
don't really love a trade down from 12 though, unless you're only moving back a few spots or are somehow picking up a meaningful future asset in the process. think there's a pretty significant difference between the guys in the mix at 12 and the players likely to be available in the late teens

Would be hard to describe JDub as you did if he declared for the draft after his freshman year like Powell.
For every Jalen Williams there are a ton of Cam Reddish players. Let's not chase anomaly player development arcs in the lottery.
You can say that for any position and any prospect outside of Flagg and Harper. The problem with Cam Reddish was his attitude. Powell has glowing reports on his character.

a bad attitude didn't make cam reddish shoot sub-40% with no 3pt shot as an nba player

He's quite literally known for lacking a killer instinct and work ethic. Attitude for sure.

Re: 2025 Draft prospects - thread 2
Mocks can be wildly wrong, but they aren't that wrong. You don't waste a FRP on a guy mocked 10-20 spots below. Not with a 65% FT and 3.4 RPG. I'd hope the only reason Drake's picked is because the Bulls picked up an extra, late pick. I guess I can't be surprised with AKME's big risky jumps on Pat and Dalen, but seeing as they were 0/2, maybe they should reconsider being more way more clever than consensus mocks. Trade downs for value do exist. With both players, we've been stuck overpaying even on their rookie deals. Difference of a few million, but at #12 you're paying a guy $5M. You don't want to pay split MLE money for a 4Y project who can't outplay a 2nd round Phillips or vet min THT. Unfortunately that's exactly what's happened with Terry and Pat.
Speaking of late picks, any thoughts on Koby Brea? Assuming he's below-average at handles and defense, looks slow... But his 3P/FT shooting seems elite (44/90), and at 6'7 with 7'3 wingspan, I'm having a hard time imagining him not having a shot as a good bench project at #45.

Maxime Raynaud remains my top pick in the realistic range, but there are so many great options that I'm going to break it down by tiers (again not including unrealistic draft targets).
Tier One (I'd be thrilled with anyone on this list and think that in five years from now they will be considered major steals)
Maxime Raynaud
Egor Demin
Cedric Coward
Collin Murray-Boyles
You'd take all 4 guys over Maluach? I'm not a big Maluach fan but you're lower on him than I am.
I like him, but my fear is that he's going to end up being a specialist. I think we need to swing for someone with higher potential. To be clear, I do like him but I want a cornerstone and I'm not fully convinced he's that.

Have really enjoyed this guy's videos. He has Ace Bailey dropping to 8 in his mock draft. I find that hard to believe but it does feel like his stock has suffered. If he does fall that far, I would love to see us trade up to get him even if it involves Coby and 12 to get it done. He could bust, but his potential is too intriguing to pass up.

I like that AK has met with Tre and Drake.
Trade up option and trade back option.
I could see someone calling with an opportunity that I hope we are ready for.

Here's one trade, I'd be tempted to do:
Bulls trade: 12, 45
BKN trades: 19, 26, 36
Not sure if they would do that, but this would open up an opportunity for us to basically walk away with three first-round talents in a deep draft.

Kobe Brea has a 6'5" wingspan.
Koby would be great with the SRP, he's got height and seemingly a great shooter. Negative wingspan may hinder him defensively though.
Here to argue about nonsensical things and suck away your joy.

You’re right. Man, Google AI or the way it presents results in search is presenting misleading data.
In that case, maybe Seth Curry, Monk and Poole are the ballpark comps.

Cedric Coward, tier one? How?
He's a college senior.
All of his advanced metrics say that he doesn't play defense. He's all offense.
Coward is not a 2 way player. Defensive effort usually does not improve in the NBA under any coach.

Nope. That's a waste of time. We don't get paid to watch full games to scout these kids. We have other things to do. Did you watch full games of any other notable prospects?
Raw stats, game logs, and advanced metrics don't lie.

I can’t have much of an opinion without watching full games. Highlights don’t show the intangibles, body language when things get tough, fighting through screens, IQ, off ball movement, if they are a leader etc.
Yes I watch full games of guys that I see that look unique and interesting. Full games help see if something is really there. This is why I’m so against Demin. Kid just passed the ball away when things got tough. He was 3-4th option by choice. Didn’t even attempt to fail.
Coward is an exceptional defender on ball. Elite size that plays strong and disruptive. Don’t care what the stats say. Dude can D up and he doesn’t just lockdown his guy. He helps the whole team on D. Granted he only played 6 games this season.

This draft is deep, but it’s not that deep. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still possibly some star potential available at 19. Will Riley maybe? Someone like Coward doesn’t go as high as the hype?
But when I look at this draft it starts to fall a pretty hard tier somewhere between 12 and 19. That line might be different for everyone, but it’s there. For me it’s around 13-14 and I start having to squint a little.
I would really like to add a later first, perhaps to add an extra big for example. I’d also be interested in a run at Saraf later in the first, especially if we draft someone like CMB at 12. But I would not trade back to do it. It would have to be other assets or just hold tight.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.
