Good to know that credible journalists have confirmed Wirtz' decision for Liverpool. I was going to console Liverpool fans after I read that Florian Plettenberg talked about it, because he's always wrong. But now it looks like this is real. Congrats to Liverpool if they pull off the deal. Incredible offensive talent, extremely creative and versatile.

I'm not well-versed on Liverpool's spending tactic, as far as I know they have never paid 100 million or more. Do you guys think they will pay 150 million € (£125 million if I'm not mistaken)? I don't think Leverkusen can settle for let's say 135 million plus bonus if they want to keep their face.

I am leaning towards it not being the full €150m. I do imagine, however, it will be a record for Liverpool and possibly PL.

Note Liverpool broke the PL record for CB (van Dijk) and GK (Alisson). Both have since been surpassed. Point is LFC are capable of doing it, but those deals were largely due to selling Coutinho to Barca.

I have seen a tweet saying a Liverpool player may be involved as well. Those sorts of deals rarely happen, though.

I just noticed I missed a word in my post. I wanted to write "can settle for less than let's say 135 million plus bonus", not the same sentence without less. That's what I think is realistic. Either way, I think it's worth to spend big money here and neither Liverpool nor Leverkusen will call this off because of five or ten million. Liverpool gets one of Europe's greatest talents for possibly the next decade. He also seems to be a very reasonable guy who is advised by his equally reasonable father. He doesn't strike me as the guy who wants to leave for Real Madrid in two years. It could be one of the biggest transfers in club history.

I wouldn't think we'd pay anything near that. But times have changed. We also spent almost nothing last year...and should have something coming in from the sale of Nunez. I think there might be a couple others out the door too. The goalie Kelleher (spelling) deserves to be playing.

So we'll see. Would like to see us keep it under 100-mil....we do have other signings to make. But if he's the sh** like I hear, then let's make it happen.

0% chance that happens without Leverkusen manager getting lynched. They saw how Frankfurt stayed put on the Kolo Muani price tag until the last day of the transfer period and got their price minus a few million. The only way I can see would be if Wirtz commits to Liverpool and, if necessary, stays in Leverkusen next season and leaves with a year left on his contract.

If Liverpool gets Wirtz for less than €120 million (including bonus) this summer I'll make my profile picture the emblem of Hamburger SV for the entire next season.

God that pass like 2/3rds up the field right into the path of Nunez (who blew it, of course)....it was like seeing your ex at the party totally dolled up. Just flashed back to better times, and got depressed. Will be missed. I am glad though that he got a strong round of applause. He got his bell rung by the fans the other week...and he knows how they feel. But today was for past work....so I'm glad he wasn't sh** on.
-------

So glad the team actually got to celebrate this one with the fans. Woulda liked to have gotten a win, but you can just see their foot has been off the gas since they wrapped it up. Anyone else feel that was a weak-arse red card? The guy completely slipped, and was making a mess of it. I mean....I dunno about that one. I get he was the last defender....but he was in the middle of eating sh** out there, by his own doing! And mid way, the guy ran into him to get the ball....I dunno...I didn't see anything 'cynical' there....just a guy making a complete mess of it. Yellow card him if you have to....and I know that woulda got him sent off. But now he's gonna miss the first game next season! Just dumb...and way too harsh.

Not sure what he was doing there though....really made a mess of things. lol

Anyhow.....great season. So glad the team got to celebrate for real. They deserved it. Wonderful job by Slot!! I for one, didn't picture us doing this 10 months ago. Grats to the team, and all us fans. Good times. YNWA!

Very curious to see what sorta team we have next year. Looking like there's gonna be some major changes.

Never did I think I'd see such a day, though FSG has surprised me in the past, specifically the transfer fee for van Dijk.

I understand FSG ambition, you need fresh potential world class level player, hungry players to add to a winning team. Also City is wobbling with their new gen stars outside Haaland, there is a chance to dominate PL with more titles next year.

I love Lucho, but if we get significant money for him it'll be an absolute coup.

Despite being on low wages, he's 28 years old with two years remaining on his contract. Other than Nunez, he's the highest value player Liverpool would be willing to sell. I do agree if an offer of £60m+ (Barca rumor) or £70m+ (Saudi rumor), you accept.

I hope Diaz stays. I am not sure that tweet was a goodbye....but it sure was weirdly put. Maybe he is gone. Seems like he has alot to win here still...plenty of career left. At least with TAA there is a fair argument to be made that he's "stepping up" in football. How is the Saudi league a step up for Daiz (no offense to the Saudi league)?

Will have to wait and see...but I certainly hope he stays.

Best of luck to Kelleher. I think he's a great goalie, and I'm really sad to see him go. But Alisson is still better...and there is a new guy coming in (Slot's first signing..so you know he's gonna give him some minutes).....so I totally get it. It was shameful keeping him on the bench. I just hope this new goalie is the real deal....cause we just let a great one walk out the door.

I think it would be huge loss for Pool and to all of us who like the PL if he left.
Even when he isn't scoring, he is an amazing dribbler who runs non stop and presses almost like prime Firmino, Mane. You guys need him because he can get past 1-3 defenders like it is nothing. Why weaken the squad when you are potentially strengthening with player like Wirtz? Better to rotate between quality players like Gakpo, Diaz than having too few options.

I hope Lucho is more ambitious than leaving for Saudi Arabia in his prime.

If you have followed Liverpool, it's been run on a sell-to-buy basis under FSG. Things may have changed, though. But something tells me Kelleher, Elliott and Nunez will not be enough to help offset the fees for Frimpong, Wirtz and Kerkez.

Paul Joyce wrote the following:

Liverpool have received no expressions of interest in Luis Díaz and are not actively looking to sell the Colombia forward.

But then late states:
That versatility and good form fuelled reports that Díaz, who joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022, was set for a new contract. However, Liverpool have no plans to open talks with Díaz, who has two years left on his existing deal and will turn 29 midway through next season.

Yeah but eventually you have to strength for more than you sell if you are competing with City who spent huge money randomly January transfers. Sell Nunez and Kelleher, Robertson types and not players who started almost 50 games.
FSG has to take a risk if they don't want to weaken the team like they did everytime Klopp era won PL or CL.
