PHI-MIL (Giannis for Maxey+)

Post#1 » by Dan Verze » Sat May 31, 2025 5:02 pm

76ers would receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Bucks would receive: No. 3 pick (2025), Tyrese Maxey, Jared McCain, Ricky Council IV, Andre Drummond, Eric Gordon, first-round pick (via LAC, 2028), first-round pick swap (via LAC, 2029)

76ers have a new Big3, typical Morey move, Bucks receive good value.

I'd do it if the Sixers if they kept McCain (maybe replace with another pick?). Need to have something leftover at guard.

I realize the Sixers likely get outbid here.

Maxey, Oubre, Gordon, Drummond, 3, 28 LAC 1st, 30 PHI 1st, 32 PHI 1st.

I both hate this direction and would expect another team to have a better offer. But it does fit Morey's MO.

This trade would heavily rely on Joel Emiid staying healthy going forward, which is not a bet that the 76ers should to be making, given every we have heard and seen so far. Given the Bucks get the 3rd pick in this year's draft,Jaren McMain(blue chip prospect when healthy), Tyrese Maxey(a all star level player) and a future 1st round pick, this could be enough, however that would depend how they feel about Ace Bailey. Replacing McCain/Maxey with Emiid would massively lower the value of the trade, which at the point the Bucks for sure decline. I'm not sure if there's a Giannis trade to the 76ers that would work for both sides(The Bucks getting atleast close to max value for Giannis and the 76ers being good enough to contend with him and still having some assets remaining to make a additional move if needed).

I'm interested to see how Milwaukee fans respond. I don't think it's nearly enough, but I don't like Maxey as much as some

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Forgetting value, the Sixers are now all in with no cohesive offensive plan. Does a Giannis + Embiid combo with zero shooting except what’s left of PG and Grimes on the roster sound like a good idea to anyone? They’re getting a top 5 player, so it’s not like they’re in any way losers. It’s just tough to make the pieces fit.

You don’t trade for Giannis in a vacuum. You place him onto a roster ready to contend. The Sixers can’t get there. I know I keep saying this, but they really are just screwed and have to stay on the current path because none of the branches have much shot to work.

I feel like the deal makes sense for the Sixers.

PG and Giannis can be point forwards, plus they still have Jared Butler, maybe Grimes who can bring the ball up and they could sign Schröder with MLE. Maybe get Lopez.

For MIL Maxey, McCain, Bailey, picks for Giannis is nice value, a nice 3 core, plus it allows them to completely sit Dame, and trade his exp next summer for a different player.

The Sixers getting trying to get Giannis is a bad idea unless it's strictly as a Joel replacement.

I understand Morey might try and do it anyway, because he's a gambler.

But having a top heavy roster is not the way to win anymore.

I don't see Giannis being interested.

I think this is very interesting-but I think Milw should pass on Maxey. He's a very good player, an All Star, but Milw should full rebuild
Send Maxey to NO for their picks back and the #7. Maxey/Murphy/Jones/Zion/Missi is a great lineup
Send CJ to Miami (for instance) for the #20 and Rozier CJ/Herro/Wiggins/Bam/Ware is pretty damn solid

Milw picks VJ at #3 and Malauch at #7 to set their 2 foundational pieces. They take a PF at #20 (would Fleming last to there?)

They do this after VJ signs and can be included in the deal

Milw saves a TON of cash and gets their 2 1sts back from NO for the rebuild. They save a ton of $ (now and future) and would have a top 5 pick in 2026. Philly adds the 2028 Clipper pick, their own 2030 unprotected 1st and start over. VJ/Fleming/Malauch could be an awesome defensive foundation

I'd rather pair Maxey with Giannis. Giannis + Embiid is a bit clunky, although it could work.

I think for the Sixers, a better deal would be assets (#3 +++) to MIL, Giannis to PHI, and Embiid to a 3rd team. 3rd team would have to be someone who's contending, but doesn't have enough themselves for Giannis (GSW, MIA, MIN) or has MILs picks (NOP, POR).
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

My preference is Giannis decides to stay and we just continue to get to watch Giannis as a Buck, but in a world where he requests a trade, I would personally be interested in this kind of package. But like you said, it depends what you think of Maxey, and to a lesser extent, what you think of McCain and the #3 pick. I like Maxey and McCain quite a bit so this offer checks a lot of boxes for me.

I'm surprised ppl are down on this. It's a great package for Giannis. They could compete with Maxey or send him to Pels for picks as noted above.

not an insulting offer (if he actually asks out, which won't happen this offseason), but I'd rather get hit by a bus than see giannis in a sixers jersey

This is better than most of the garbo I see on this board. Small adjustments: Love VJ as the second best player in this draft so well done there but not digging DeSagna Diop 2.0 in Maluach. I'd hope Knueppel makes it to 7 or Fears. Would love a guy like Demin if he makes it to 20 or maybe a future pick instead of 20. Also gets you in the hunt to start the Dynabasta dynasty.

Would prefer to just make something work with Giannis but this is one of the better mock Giannis scenarios I've seen. Well done.
