For daoneandonly AD to Houston
So I've been consistent that Dallas isn't trading AD, but hey let's let him gave good things and Niko quits or gets fired and a new guy comes in and tells Vegas you got to pivot.
Then I know Dallas has 2nd apron issues, but we'll set them aside for now as something the Mavs can clear up if they have to.
AD
Powell(to 3rd team with Dallas cash and some 2nd from Houston)
for
Green
Smith Jr
Sheppard
#10
Rockets go get a stud without giving up either of their favorite two young players in Thompson and Eason or any of their future picks. Bring back FVV and go for the title.
Mavs pivot around Cooper. Kyrie sits out most or all of the year. Green and all these kids lead a tank job. Dallas either extends or trades Washington and Gafford and now has some young talent in place.

Value isn't off (I don't have Jalen Green as positive) and Mavs should move from AD, but not sure Rockets pull their timeline this much. But it isn't crazy I guess.

proposed this before and i still think dallas should send smith jr to charlotte for 2027 pick back since they have PJ and Flagg for forward spots

Sorry, link to yours? We can shut this one down and discuss there. I probably even commented in it lol.
I would have Charlotte less interested in that with Dallas making this trade? Smith Jr has to get a new deal and Dallas figures to still not be great. I'd have that as an overpay by them, but maybe?

Value aside, I just don't see how Nico could possibly move AD after trading Doncic for him.

Oh it was in the old rumors/general thread so no worries this is good place to talk about it.

Obviously. Hence the caveat at the very beginning of the thread lol. I have posted that same thing two dozen times or more. I agree with you. Just exploring an idea for a poster who desperately wants it.

Re: For daoneandonly AD to Houston
I think this really depends on how Sheppard is valued. Is is still worth a top 10 pick?... I would say 8-12 is a value range for him. Green is neutral at best here but likely negative. Jabari likely a mid 1st. So netted out it not the greatest offer but likely a competitive offer if Dallas puts AD on the block.
For Houston, not a lot of 3 pt shooting at your 4/5 has me a little hesitant to take this. I think I would still but would think about a Sengun trade too, since AD at center in the playoffs is his best position.

Chuck is rightfully calling me out because I desperately want Nico and AD gone. My biggest gripe with Luka was his immaturity always arguing and conditioning leading to injuries, yet Dallas trades him for an older even less available guy.
Thanks Chuck! But man do I hate the idea of helping Houston and taking Green off their hands. I think dumping Green should cost them #10 itself

.
Yeah that's basically how I valued all those pieces. Green small negative, Sheppard and Smith in those ranges. I think AD's health means you just aren't going to get a premium asset back. So tried to pick some pieces with some upside that Houston would see as expendable. The question on how they would view AD is certainly an interesting one.
So let's do what Chuck always argues against since I'm already doing a trade I don't believe has any chance of happening--AD goes to Phoenix, Durant goes to Houston, Phoenix sends their low level firsts to Houston. Houston gets a guy who does fit and a rebate. Suns get a win now partner to go with Booker.

I agree on Jalen Green and Sheppard, but Jabari has to be worth at least a pick in the 7-10 range given his archetype. I know I'd give up 14 for him instantly for the Spurs, provided he isn't expecting a ridiculous extension.

The question is said extension though right? What extension would you feel good about trading 14+ for(since you say he's worth a higher pick). And how likely do you believe he is to agree to that number you need him to be at?
But I'd have no issues forwarding him on to the Spurs if they had interest. Or daddy's Hornets if they had interest. I think there is something there, but would rather flip him than pay a huge extension. And I think the number would be big.

Re: For daoneandonly AD to Houston
Would definitely flip him to Cha for '27 returned. Doesn't Houston now have our '29 pick from BKN? Do I have that right? If so, I think we're owed that.

Mid 1st 12-18 for me. I think that is fair for his current trajectory coming off a 20 minute role in the playoffs and lack of overall progression in his game.

Dallas would be pretty far through a rebuild quickly.
Green, Sheppard, Jabari, Flagg, Lively - starting five all lottery picks with tons of potential. Also have 10, Christie and whatever they can get for pj, Gafford, Klay, Martin and Naji.

If the extension starts at 25 or close then I'd do that instantly. If it's closer to 30, then I might still do that but with a different structure, say 4 years with the last year a team option, ideally flat. He's going to get paid on upside, but his profile (position, age, role) means his contract would still be movable in that range. On the Spurs he'd fit in great, he doesn't need the ball in his hands, rebounds, defends, and with a better shot diet he could be a valuable floor spacer to go alongside Wemby.

Re: For daoneandonly AD to Houston
yeah if he does $25M then I think Dallas should keep him and trade PJ Washington for whatever future value he holds. Over $30M, best pick gets him.

Re: For daoneandonly AD to Houston
I can accept Green as neutral, but I have Jabari and Reed as significantly more valuable than what is being assigned in this thread. Would not move either for #3 in this draft, for example.
If that is the case, simple solution, swap them for Hous 28 pick and Dallas 29 pick.

But Green is not neutral, he's surely negative

Sheppard isn't even a top 3 player in his class but he should be in this one? Not saying he's a bust, but damn, that's kind of crazy.
