Definitely. Of course that all depends on James' willingness to take a back seat and not play so many minutes. But, either way (LA or Cleveland) if he is at all serious about wanting to win, he'll need to take a pay cut. I'm not so sure he's that serious about it, though. I hope he still is.

The disparity between 1 and 2 is wild to me, considering how neck and neck both were even until the playoff series between them. It looks like Shai winning it was never in doubt.

The 40 year was 6th? Not sure about that, but damn, just more grist for the mill. I'd say he's had a nice career :)

It was quite obvious for a while, the Vegas odds were heavily skewed Shai’s way for a great portion of the season.

The guy having an all-time year leading a 68 win team while leading the all-in-ones is just a pretty safe bet to win MVP given all historic precedent. From that perspective, it’s impressive that it wasn’t a wider gap.

Thoughts on having Bron play the 3 and have a big 4/5 group?

Need at least 1 to be a floor spacer

But for ex: Get Okongwu and a floor spacing C like Lopez or trade for John Collins and sign a C like Capela or even Brook

The thing is though, if we get a POA defender next to Luka, then AR has to come off the bench

Luka, POA defender, Bron, PF, C

If we dont start with 2 bigs, I think we at least need the option vs a team like Den, OKC, Bos, etc. A lot of these teams have 2 bigs now and we dont even have 1 lol

Asking for a friend. Is making 2nd team All NBA at 40 years old good? Sustained greatness like never before. Trolls/Haters hardest hit.

I think Rui (especially with how he has been shooting this year) or DFS is a good forward pair to Lebron, I wouldn't look for anyone bigger, especially with Lebron losing more and more steps. There are not too many mobile big forwards, who can defend, score some and spread the floor. Targeting one of those would be very expensive or hardly impossible.

The starting lineup is Luka, Lebron and DFS imo. It leaves 2 open spots: a guard and a center, who both has to be good defenders.
1; The C has to be a good rim protector who is also mobile, but he doesn't need to be any kind of force on offense. Brook is not that guy. Capela is the safe bet imo, but if we can get Goga for cheap (like Knecht + protected 1st), then I'd go for it.
2; The guard has to be a POA defender who can shoot the 3, but apart from that he can be average everywhere else. Vincent is the safest bet imo, but if we can get NAW, I'd go for it. (Christie would have been an ideal fit also, there's limited chance we will deal w/ Harrison again, but who knows.)

Seeing some unfortunate reports that LeBron plans to opt in to his player option. I’m really hoping he leaves. I’m also sick of hearing about LeBron “needs to take a paycut.” 1) He’s worth every penny of his contract. 2) taking a paycut won’t provide the Lakers with that much cap space. 3) Pelinka is brain dead and completely incapable of using the cap space a LeBron paycut would provide to improve the roster. All a paycut would do is cost LeBron millions of dollars without increasing their ability to win.

He should just go to the Nuggets already.

The Cavs. He should’ve went there several years ago. Why he spent his entire career not trusting front offices just to show one-sided loyalty to the most inept organization in the league is beyond me. Has definitely cost him a ring or two, but I suppose living in LA is more important to him. His choice, I just hate it.

After watching the Western playoffs play out, Luka ball is probably the best way to get past OKC.

If the Lakers retool the roster well(easier said than done with Pelinka obviously), they probably match up the best with OKC. They need to trade Reaves though. Him and Luka overlap and are redundant together.

Agree with everything you said. Finding any kind of center is imperative, as well. Suppose that falls under "If the Lakers retool the roster well", though. I, too, have little faith in Pelinka. Maybe, another great deal will drop in his lap, again :)

If AR is moved, we need a 3rd ball handler better than Gabe

If AR is moved for a guy like Jalen Suggs, that works

Or if we somehow get a guy like Jrue, sure then move AR

I still think we should first try and make logical moves like getting a starting C and a backup and a POA defender.

Use Knecht, 1st, mle, kleber and gabe expirings, Rui?

If we can get an elite defensive wing/guard like Suggs, OG, or maybe Herb for AR, then you consider it a bit more

Not sure I would move him for any C's. Maybe Jarrett Allen

Idk if Bron will play 3 or 4 but he seriously needs to reduce minutes to play as a roll man. That's when the Lakers were better and if he reduces minutes he'll be able to play closer to the basket on offense without needing the ball in his hands - his 1st step isn't there. So the ball needs to be in Luka's or Reeves' hands.

No way Pacers do this now given their season, but I’d have loved something like this:

Reaves
Knecht
2 1sts
Swap

For

Nembhard
Turner
