Plus their shooting doesn’t seem super sustainable to me once you start to lose your edge those shots start getting a lot harder to hit as we’ve seen here.

Edit:

That's the thing. They don't rely on shooting to win. When you have elite defense like they have, you always have a shot. Something I wish the Celtics get back to starting next season (even without Tatum).

I think they'll be able to keep SGA and one of Chet/JDub long-term. They can cycle through role players in the league using their picks. Team is relatively young. If the supporting cast are cool with their role and the pay they're getting, they can just keep this going for another 3-4 years. Plus they're very well-coached. System built to plug and play as long as players are dedicated on defensive side of the court.

Celtics were 4th in defensive rating in the regular season and 2nd in the playoffs despite their best rim protector missing most of the year. As always with this core the issue wasn't the defense.

Yep, that defense really showed up in the 4th quarter against Brunson and Bridges. A staggering 124.2 defensive rating in the 4th vs. the Knicks.

I'm really loving what JB is doing for the city of Boston.

There's more to life than just basketball.

I don't think JB's getting traded.

He's really now a Boston guy.

Just trade Jrue, KP, and if need be, DWhite.

It would really be interesting if the Cs have JT, JB, and KD in next year's playoffs.

Ticket sales would be great if KD is a Celtic next season.

The problem is it would just be a 2-year window.

If they get the ring this year it will be the last with this team
They are unwatchable and a detriment to the NBA franchise (viewership is already falling)
The NBA will do something to nip this kind of basketball in the bud. It isn't entertaining or fun to watch. And it is not like we have a rivalry like with the bad boys (DET) in the 90'

I'm probably in the minority, but I love watching them play.

I don’t understand why people don’t like to watch them. They defend and offend. What more do you want, besides your favorite team?

I hope the pacers at least fight, but okc is about to wipe.

It's a case of boring is good.

OKC capitalizes on mistakes and bad shots.

Majority of NBA fans are used to highlight reels and amazing shots.

Well, the NBA is a business, if the ratings don’t go up the NBA certainly will find a way to get other teams further. Imagine the calls the Luka Lakers are about to get, the NBA wants that money! I hope the finals don’t drop in viewership, they aren’t about to let that happen often, I don’t care how good both of the teams are!

I wonder if seven games will bring in fans? I hope the ratings are decent because these teams deserve it. They work just as hard as the big name teams!

They are allowed too much that it seems unfair
No way Caruzo can stop the Joker without committing 4 fouls each time he guards him. It was torture seeing this
Shai jumping on people to get fouls (foul broker is his new nickname - you don't want this nickname for your league MVP)

They always hack and push - not getting calls on 90% of their fouls. I for one don't want other teams to duplicate this kind of basketball that relies on ref not calling for something or calling in your favor
Also - games that end with a blowout are not good for the NBA, especially in the conference finals and finals. It is boring

Look how Brunson wasn't as effective in game 6 going to the line for just 2 FTs. Shai is a better player but when you take the bull FTs he gets he'll be less effective

As I said - the NBA is a business. If the viewership will gets down, something will happen next year to get this kind of basketball out of the way

I hope IND will win it all, just for the fun basketball they are playing

No one is waiting for them to be mediocre.

There's those who think they'll be good next year and then there's those of us who already know that next year is going to be a major drop off from what they have been the last 3 years.

Some of you aren't ready apparently for what this team is about to do.

Celtics are going to cut some salaries but you don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. 11 months ago the Celtics were NBA champs. Some people in this forum act like the Celtics are the Washington Wizards

I'm open to any and all possibilities except for the Celtics standing pat. I'd be floored if they do that. Quite excited for our off-season really. Brad will work his magic again. Trade wizard, draft not so much yet.

Or just blatantly insinuating everyone who thinks this team can still be good is obviously wrong.

They're going to be without KP, Jrue and Tatum and replaced them with scrubs. Maybe without horford and Luke too.

Its gonna be bad. On top of **** coaching, you're looking at a 45 win team at best.

Well, there is a chance only pritchard, white, brown and scheierman are still here and the rest are gone.
Hope horford and kornet also continue here.
But the rest..... kp, holiday, hauser and tillman are gonna be traded.
The rest..... queta and craig are interesting.
That would be 9 keepers including tatum.
No small thing.

Return to Boston Celtics
