He annoyed the hell out of me plenty and he had some really rough moments, but he’s far from the biggest problem. He brings a lot of good to the team. Hopefully he can regain some confidence in his shooting in the offseason because when he’s efficient offensively he’s a super valuable player

Knicks will never trade Brunson.

It is possible that KAT will get traded.

Most likely scenario is we stay the same and build the bench.

the CBA basically makes that impossible with the contracts they have. U basically are bargin binning the bench if you don't get rid of a starters contract.

I dont think Kat understands or maybe he doesnt care. I always believed if he did work out -he was a better place holder than Randle; a player that a team would prefer over randle.
When I saw OG confronting KAT I was disappointed because OG doesnt talk much so for him to confront Kat that said to me Kat was **** up big time.

KAT puts in effort on defense... it's just that he is fcking dumb on that side of the ball.

Also, he is those types of fcking players on the basketball court that does petty sh.it to you cuz there are no refs while balling. But there are fcking refs in the NBA. I swear i've seen too many of these type of players.

if Mikal just gets in the gym and fixes his 3 pt shot he is more than fine. He was excellent defensively in the playoffs and had moments in big spots on offense. We need more consistency with the range 3 pt shooter but for what they invested and what he can provide in the playoffs guarding multiple positions he is going nowhere.

You focus on only KAT and ignore the bad output of OG and Mikal and it isn’t honest

To be fair OG and Mikal were tasked with defending as well as they can around to weak defenders in Brunson and KAT. Replace either of them with a good defender and I think they could have played better on offense because they would have more energy.

I guess Mikal did a good defensive job

Not great tho

OG some good games but a lot of mediocre defense I think and really mediocre offense

KAT is committing the fouls that Mitch made during his rookie season.

If we were to keep the same core. Yes... you're going to need to do that and get Thibs okay on it. Cuz that man aint playing anyone.

Or you can trade Mitch for a couple of bench players. I feel he is too limited and with cap constraint, he could be used elsewhere.

Strick wrote:KAT looks like the odd man out. He’s an amazing talent and one of the best offensive bigs in the league without a doubt. He provided some wild performances, including him willing us to a win in this series

That being said it is VERY tough to defend with him and Brunson out there. Pacers exposed it to the point it couldn’t be masked

It will be interesting to see the haul. Leon has made some really good moves in his tenure so hopefully he can make another. The hit piece being dropped hopefully doesn’t hurt his trade value since it makes it more obvious we will be at the very least open to moving him

Teams in this league have centers that can coordinate the defense through strong communication, erase mistakes, and allow their wings and guards to play aggressive ass defense.

With KAT and Brunson, we need to be perfect on defense, especially from our wings. Not sure if this is possible in this league. The other option is for our duo to be so dominant offensively, nothing else matters.

I’ll take the bullet on KD. You get the shot creator that we badly need next to Brunson and he isn’t nearly as bad on defense as KAT

I hate the age but I can see the argument.

He will definitely create more shots for others than Towns.

After those two though, not sure if there’s any fit. Would be someone unexpected.

I think we might have more options than just Giannis and KD. According to shams, this off season might be the craziest in years.

KAT is a solid player, but his flaws are just too much to overcome to win a chip. That's exactly why Minny moved him even after reaching the WCF, and they had no problem getting back there without him.

Ever play a pick up game where you're the only one playing smart D? But you'll know it'll be over after 1 game. Take that frustrated feeling and multiple that by 70-something games. It's exhausting. Mikal and OJ are exhausted.

Again... would y'all be okay trading OG? This is the most he has ever played I believe. Are we taking a gamble that he can stay healthy? Does his contract warrant him as the defacto # 3 option on this team?

OG and Mikal not only had to worry about the players they were defending, but they also had to worry about the player Jalen and KAT were defending.

I don’t see it. I thought OG did a lot of so so stuff on defense

It's the coaches responsibility to put the player in a position to succeed. Just like Obi failed under Thibs. Mikal hasnt lived up to his potential because of thibs. If Thibs had any self awareness he would look for an offensive genius and bring him in as an assistant.

I think that’s not 100% true

Delon and Shamet (in far smaller stretches) played more noticeably impactful defense

We need a good 3&D wing or two to lighten the load on Bridges & OG. I think they're a great combo, but imagine what they could do if they didn't have to play 38-42 minutes in big/tight games...

Yup. Indy wasn't that good last year. They're really good this year, so . . . very different series. Last year we were clearly the better team. We were just really banged up. This year, hate to say it, but they were the better team.

Sure, if we would have brought back last year's Knicks we would have beat them. But while the Pacer's developed continuity, we brought back pratically a new band.

A worse band.

This team does not have the fight and spirit of that team. This team does not represent New York.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.
