NBA Draft party

Post#1 » by dougthonus » Sun May 25, 2025 4:56 pm

Hi everyone, my NBA draft party is going to be back again this year. Probably would guess we'll have ~15 people. Let me know if you'd like an invite. I live in Roselle, so I know it's kind of a pain for those in the city. Happy to pick people up at the train station that want to take the metra out to roselle.

If interested shoot me a DM. I'll provide free food / drinks for attendees.

I've still got the video from the 2004 party on my computer somewhere. You all cheered for Gordon and booed Deng and you know you did.

04 draft was a great time for the bulls. I liked all 4 rookies the bulls got in Gordon, Deng, Duhon, and Noc. If only they can happen again with this current team.

Hows come? Gordon had to raise his game up for most of the tourney as Okafor only played the first half of all those games up until the final 4 and championship game due to injuries. That's probably why the bulls drafted him.

Dammit. Spoke too soon. Can't find it. But it definitely happened and you're all guilty as hell and you should be embarrassed.

Haha, I wasn't at that draft party, but it's hard to imagine anyone booing the Deng pick. He was projected at #3.

We lacked size and I liked the young 68 guy.

well we had Curry, Chandler, Antonio Davis, and Othello Harrington at the 4 and 5 spots. Bulls lacked a lot of everything after 98 was over. That draft filled a lot of wholes with scoring and depth.

I can remember every detail of the video. Hands clapped when Gordon was picked, someone shouted YES in a main character sort of way - everyone was happy. Except for Eli (sorry I forgot the username, I've never posted here before obviously) who pointed out Gordon was 6'2 and no one should be happy. Then in the Deng video, people literally walked off shaking their heads. Good times.

My favorite draft party reactions:
Completely right: Doug McDermott draft - Everyone lost it when we traded up for him except for my friend Fred who was going nuts

Completely wrong: Taj Bison draft - Nicknamed Taj "not Dejuan Blair" Gibson at the party, everyone was so mad.

I wasn’t at those parties but definitely remember both those days being the reaction from fans lol. The Doug one really stung to me because I wanted Zach and thought he was the obvious pick. But then garpax showed their ass.
