2025 Knicks Offseason Predictions

Post#1 » by The KnicksFix » Sun Jun 1, 2025 7:37 am

What would you like to see happen?
If the Giannis trade is there for a reasonable price, I would make the deal of course. Otherwise, I personally think we should fire Thibs. He’s older now, and maybe some fresh blood with a new coach/ new voice is needed in with modern offensive and defensive schemes. We are very close to a ring, and have this 2-3 year window. Have at it!

I think Karl and Mikal are getting traded.

Tom isn't getting fired.

I think KAT get traded for parts and the FO does their normal biannual tradition of one FA going after the best talent available and then the next summer going after the best talent Thibs will play.

This summer is “going after talent Thibs will play” summer. So expect multiple players.

It’s funny cause I was the most vocal poster against KAT when he first came but now that he’s here, I see the potential of the team with his skills and think it would be a mistake to abort the mission after one year.

Thibs is the problem. He's gotta go. We played 7 guys all year and it fell apart in the playoffs. As usual. His methods are madness. His offense doesn't exist. His defense only works with a certain roster? Then it's not much of a system.

I'm not very interested in seeing any more of Thibs BS. Multiple All Star players. Multiple All NBA defenders. We suck on both sides of the ball? The bench issues. The rookie issues. The minutes issues. It's every reason I never wanted him to begin with. It's every reason he's been fired elsewhere. It's every reason to be fired again. He's not a HC. He is a defensive asst. Nothing more.

That's the part that sucks most about this. We're going to go into next season again with the YMCA read and react offense that revolves around Jalen pounding the air out of the ball and a defense that doesn't defend against the 3. These two things alone cap this teams potential. There is zero guarantee that we even make it out of Round 2 next season if things continue as is.

The players have issues but I don't see us getting any further than this with Tom at the helm. I think back to Game 6 versus Boston where Jalen had to tell him to take the starters out when the game was already decided....something about that says to me that dude isn't all the way there as he once was. Running 7 man rotations in December and then waiting til we are down 0-2 in the conference finals to use the bench...nah man. There's a serious issue with coaching on this team or lack thereof.

Not sure who is available and what deals will be out there but what is obvious is that there needs to be a roster change from the starting lineup to the bench

Several NBA head coaches are clients of Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Some notable clients include Mike Budenholzer, Erik Spoelstra, Brett Brown, James Borrego, Kenny Atkinson, Michael Malone, and Monty Williams. Additionally, coaches like Taylor Jenkins and Doc Rivers are also represented by CAA according to multiple sources, including NBA.com. If there's a move it will likely be someone on this list.

We are also never likely to get another post-season like this out of Mitch. It probably only happened since he'd already missed 65 games. He has played just 48 games in the past 2 years. So he played just 35 games this year. Even if you love what he did this post-season, we need someone else for the bulk of a full season. Kessler, Claxton, Aldama or a rookie seem the likeliest avenues (CAA). Hukporti? Probably still just learning how to play BB. And do we really want Thibs teaching him?

I really don't want to see another Knicks team play like they are stuck in molasses while a team like the Pacers ice skate past them time and again. Obi, Siakaam, McConnell all seem like Olympic sprinters compared to the Knicks D.

If the question is what would you like most.....it has to be Giannis. Giannis is the perfect Brunson complement out there. You do whatever you csn behind the scenes to make it happen. Even to the point of bringing in a guy who Giannis would prefer to be the HC.

Yes, I would give up both KAT and Bridges if I had to to get him too.

Then get Divo back if Minny wants to sign Randle.

Mitch/ Giannis/ Huk
Giannis/OG
OG/Hart/McCullers
Divo/Hart/Wright

Trading Kat for KD does 5 things to help improve this team tremendously.

1. Secondary ball handler that kills Brunson hero ball
2. Legit 30 point scorer every night
3. Opens up OG and Bridges game offensively and defensively
4. Improves perimeter and help defense
5. Shorter deal which allows for better flexibility after 2026 season

All these trade ideas sound great but it take two to tango. Why would Phoenix trade KD for even a more expensive contract when they have a giant tax bill coming their way? Why would Milwaukee trade Giannis for a significantly worse big when they have nothing else going on with their roster and have no picks? Then there is the mechanics. How do you take on more salary when you are over the second apron? You have to find second and third teams to dump more salary which means you will take additional starters out of your roster when you have zero depth to begin with.

The realistic idea I heard was keeping the roster and adding a veteran big with tax payers MLE. Al Horford would help a lot if he is willing. Kornet would be okay but not sure Thibs would play him. Brook Lopez might work as well.
