Let’s retire his name from the trade thread for good. For the love of god.

Chris Paul, Brad Beal, and CJ McCollum should be banned from the trade threads for how often we hear about them and how little they make sense to this organization.

Thank you. It’s insane people keep bringing him up.

There’s a trending topic on Reddit regarding the trade we made for their unprotected swap next year (over 125 replies).

People are taking notice of how colossal that pick could potentially be

OMG those idiots make us sound like Jerry West talking hoops with John Wooden

The difference between this board and Reddit/Twitter is the difference between ITT and MIT.

Believe it or not MIT had some great frat parties...I was across the river at BU...but I get it.

If M-Wagner is happy in Orlando, his agent might request the team to decline him; where a new deal is already worked out.

We fans might hope that would be 3-years for 24M. But if management is happy with his play, I would not be surprised if it is 3-years for 35M.

M-Wagner makes sense in Magic blue. And Bitadze is insurance for Carter.

Tying up 30-40M in total annual salary for the C core is fine from an accounting perspective.

I don't think they are signing a guy to a higher deal off an ACL tear who won't be playing over half of the season in a summer where we need to manage finances well to help our team.

I think Moe will get a 2 yr $11m deal with the second season being a team option.

Garland stands out as the cleanest path to forming a true core around Paolo and Franz, providing pull-up shooting and floor generalship this team lacks. The front office must now choose between consolidating for a ceiling-raising move or adding cost-effective upgrades that preserve flexibility.

Creation you mean for them selves or for others or both?

Creation for others i would rank them:
Garland

Monk
Reaves

Poole

White
Simons
Sexton

Regardless of his production on court, he was a big free agency signing for Weltman and the Magic and it shows that they are willing to sign Klutch players where in the past that was really in question.

KCP also is HUGE off court, represents the Magic in a lot of public promotional things. Big mentor to a lot of the players and has recently said that he wants to bring a championship to Orlando (publicly). Words spoken like he has no doubt in his mind he’s here for the long haul.

This is not to say he’s untouchable, but I really don’t think Weltman and co. have the cojones to deal him so quickly given his representation (these things matter more than people think). I also have some inside info from his wife that makes me believe that if something did happen involving him it would be completely out of left field and certainly wasn’t expected (please don’t ask me too many questions about this).

I think the main pcs we’re dangling are:

Isaac/Anthony/Harris/Bitazde/Howard/Carter (and Black/TDS at a lesser extent) with the main value coming from draft pick equity.

I also think Orlando uses their MLE this season for someone like NAW (or more depth)

Again, my thoughts on the situation.

He was a BAD signing even before his 1st game. If Weltman puts personal vanity above team success and recognizing a mistake, he should leave as soon as possible anyway.

Absolutely…if anything, he’s known as a defensive specialist. That’s the role he’s evolved into…early in his career, he was showing occasional scoring bursts…IF we cleared out the more expensive version we just bought.

2/11 is a slap in the face offer even if he’s coming off an ACL. I’d hope the FO isn’t that dumb to insult your main bench player.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

Trade 1: on draft night.
Magic get Malik monk and Jonas valanciunas

Kings get Johnathan Isaac, #25 pick and #46 pick.

Trade 2 after July 1st but agreed on draft night so they pick who they want.
Magic get Kevin Durant

Suns get KCP, Cole, Dell, AB, Rights to the 16th pick, their 2026 pick swap back, 2027 1st unprotected and. 2029 pick swap.

You roll with a starting lineup of Suggs, Franz, Durant, Paolo, Goga. With Monk, TDS, Moe, and some ring chasing vets to fill out the rest could be a dangerous combination. Plus KD expires when Paolo’s extension kicks in and he might take a discount since he is getting older(37 this year) and if not you cleared a bunch of long term contracts off the books that were not contributing for what they were paid.

I think monk would thrive as a 6th man for us and we could even finish some games with Monk, Suggs, Franz, Durant and Paolo at small ball center.

The East is wide open and these moves could push us to the top.

Thoughts?

I think this should happen regardless imo, he’s in his last year of his contract and has been asleep at the wheel his entire tenure here and now wants to try to save face at this very last minute. This screams panic/desperation and Orlando as a franchise has a lot more at risk allowing Jeff to sabotage this roster than just letting him go and finding a replacement in a pivotal transitional period of the team.

Just seems like a recipe for disaster and history has shown us that these cases always never end up being beneficial for the longterm success of the team.

Umm .....

Orlando signed Isaac to a four-year, $69.9 million extension in Dec. 2020, four months after tearing his ACL.
