There's those who think they'll be good next year and then there's those of us who already know that next year is going to be a major drop off from what they have been the last 3 years.

Some of you aren't ready apparently for what this team is about to do.

Celtics are going to cut some salaries but you don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. 11 months ago the Celtics were NBA champs. Some people in this forum act like the Celtics are the Washington Wizards

They're going to be without KP, Jrue and Tatum and replaced them with scrubs. Maybe without horford and Luke too.

Its gonna be bad. On top of **** coaching, you're looking at a 45 win team at best.

Stevens would definitely squeeze 45 wins out of that roster, I doubt Joe can get them anywhere close to 35 wins.

Unless Stevens finds diamonds in thw rough this team is ****.

You can't replace top paid talent and expect to get the same tier player back while savings 250 million against the tax.

We're shedding the salary and the skill. I just don't see it.

The eventual Horford loss is definitely going to hurt. I’ve loved Kp but he’s also been as much fantasy as reality.

So this year will be pretty interesting to watch, they could return the big men minus Kp and get another cheap big and get the Js healthy and win a second round series next year. Or if JT/JB don’t play much and the team is thin they could pivot to a real soft tank and get a legit young guy.

Hopefully it’s not worse than those options lol

Brad needs to execute the big man version of his 2022 derrick white trade this summer lol. Find an undervalued center that can thrive here

There is a lot of freedom that comes with a 45 win team with expectations of zero. They may surprise you. By the way, a 45 win team in the East is a 5/6 seed

I'm not here to root for a 6th seed finish. That's not what we do with the Celtics.

You may be satisfied to watch these guys gut out a 45 win season and maybe a first round win but I much rather tear it down and look to the future.

Brown as your number 1 option with Joe coaching a team that is about to lose 60% of its starting roster is going to really bring home just how bad it is for those who continue to hold out that it's gonna be fine.

I must rather use the opportunity to rebuild from the bottom up.

Celtics were 1-3 against the Knicks with Tatum as #1 option. If you want a complete rebuild then trade Tatum too because he is not going to bust his ass in rehab and come back and wait another 3-4 years for the Celtics to be good again. Tatum will be like Giannis and want out. Anyone that thinks otherwise is drinking their green kool-aid.

I didn't have "Tatum is the problem" on my bingo card.

Dumb **** Joe is why they lost and his marvelous coaching and game plans.

Tatum is done. He's missing all next year. The following year will be a rehab year in getting back to his elite level, IF he can even do it.

So we're looking at 3 years from now before they get back to the promise land.

Well good luck. Brown will be 30, with his bum knees getting worse, white will be 32 and Tatum will be lucky if he can ever be a elite defender again.

We dont have the cap to compete at a elite level next year and we don't have the assets to compete at a elite level the following year.

It's gonna sink in with the rest of you soon enough.

It’s a valuable point though the piece I’d suggest for optimism here is the Celtics have an elite front office and Brad has taken the Js and a bunch of trash and turned it into an elite roster once already so along with Tatum the other most important piece is in place.

I'm not saying blow it up to blow it up.

I'm saying that given the direction that they have already conditioned us to believe that they're heading this off-season, that it's closer than people realize.

I don't think some here understand the **** up position the Cs are actually in right now lol. The Tatum injury, the series loss to the bum ass Knicks, Joe's coaching, Brown with his messed up knee. KP being reduced to a role player, Jrue playing like ass. It's like everything that could turn to **** literally turned to **** with the Cs at the same damn time lmao.

We're also looking at reducing salary which means some guys will not be in Boston next season.

I'm mostly indifferent to how big the changes are for next season and how we do.

But for 2026-27, I fully expect the C's are planning to field a team that can contend.

So if you want to strip it down for parts this summer, you need a plan to rebuild it all within 12 months.

And that’s why he should be traded now. He’s the best chance the C’s have to get a decent draft haul. He’ll get them a lottery slot this draft imo.

Trading White, Jrue and Porzingis will destroy the 25/26 season but if they can add a lottery slot this draft, and a couple of expirings and maybe an upside player (like a White), the 26/27 season will have cap space to go along with JT, JB and that lottery pick.

The destroyed 25/26 season may very well make them a lottery team also, so two lottery players to go along with JT and JB is a good start to a new chapter.

I'm all for it. They don't have any title aspirations next year without Tatum and I see no reason to gut it out for a middling season.

Tatum is coming back in March, if the Cs are a playoff team.

Report says JT will be out for 8-9 months.

That's around February.

Too early to speculate.

Let's wait for what Brad does before jumping to conclusions.

As long as the Cs have JB, White, and PP, that's a sign the Cs will want to compete.

I don't think there will be any rebuilding happening any time soon.

Blowing the team up assumes that Brown isn't a star on this team and he will be all for it
The team will be competitive unless Brown will also have a surgery and will be shut down for half a season

You don't trade White, it just doesn't make sense. Whatever assets you get back for him you'll be turning around in 12 months time trying to package them together to go out and get a guy just like Derrick White.

We're not taking 2-3 years off. It's a max 1 year dip before Tatum is back at which point we'll be gearing up to make a championship run again. He might be wearing training wheels to start the season but by playoff time he'll be two years removed from the injury and should be as close to back as he will likely ever be.

Trade KP/Jrue for as much salary cap savings as we can while also still getting back a viable rotation player or two. Let JB slow-play his return next year from his knee and we'll effectively be "soft-tanking" with a lineup of PP/ White/ Hauser/ Walsh/ Queta or whatever Joe rolls out there for the majority of the year. Let the kids develop, land a a likely lotto pick for next summer.

Then you come back with a healthy Tatum and Brown, still have White, Pritchard, Hauser and have given the likes of Baylor, Walsh, Davison, Queta, #28 and #32 the chance to develop with a tons of minutes, so you may even have 1-2 more fringe/rotation pieces for the bench. Likely with some TPE's and all our picks but 1, including a lotto pick, we can pivot to trying to replace the talent we lost in Jrue/KP/Horford by taking advantage of other teams trying to duck the aprons/tax etc. as the league will continually be on this merry-go-round of spending big for short bursts and then needing to rebalance the cap sheet (like we are facing now). This is going to be the new normal for the NBA. OKC is going to have to jettison some costs even though the guys are talented, so will teams like ORL, PHX, CLE, GSW etc. etc. There will be opportunities to come in and get a bargain (just like teams will get with KP/Jrue from us right now).

Keep in mind what it cost us to get KP/Jrue in the first place. It's not like we traded our only true blue chip asset for either, both came in deals that we could replicate in the future. Brad will have options going forward.

I'm not trading White for a roll of the dice on a lottery ticket this season. He's just far far too valuable when we're only 12 months out from what will inevitably be a summer where we try to put this team back on track and inject some additional talent back in.
