If KAT is going rogue thats one thing but there are multiple mistakes by everyone on the roster. That ultimately is not a good look for Thibs.

i usually watch this dude's streams, even the non-knicks games. And while he is way too hysterical, he brings up most defensive mistakes in good detail,
and in from the knicks games i watched before, pretty much everyone makes serious mistakes, even from the likes of OG and Mikal

So its quites surprising the singling out of KAT and his defensive' woes, when everyone else is also making mistakes

correct, he certainly is over the top and clearly its his "shtick" to be but a nut job. But if you remove the theatrics (which is how he tries to get views) he knows things about defense. KAT is not a good defender....but nearly everyone on our roster was having issues.

When OG, Mikal, and Mitch are making mistakes there is something off.

This is also true, when the anchor of your defense doesn’t communicate and makes bad reads everyone suffers even og who is elite. If Kat could improve even only on communication and positioning it would be a non issue.

What makes me roll-eyes in all of these , is that they are complaining about one dude (its Towns, in this situation) that is still trying to defend with the best of what he can do, when the guy that Towns replaced, doesnt even defend, just stands still, and yams on his teammates when the opposition scores and they didnt complain about that guy

Yes, I had to turn it down cuz I was getting a migraine but that video shows that there's no one communicating. Mitch spoke about that in the interview.

All season Knicks 3 point defense were atrocious and continued to be atrocious.

Communication is one thing, but they’re just flat out in wrong positions non stop. If a screen is coming they hedge when they shouldn’t. And don’t hedge when they should. There’s constant lack of fighting over picks and KAT quite literally walks away from siakim in the second play on that clip by awful coaching. WHO ARE YOU GUARDING KAT WHO ARE YOU GUARDING!

We are in a stupid drop coverage and there’s no way this team is that stupid collectively defensively. Because individually they are all high IQ ball players. This has to do with coaching philosophy. And I can’t watch this garbage anymore. Talent can take you to an ECF, it can’t make you win a ring. You need both

All I know is OG doesnt speak
He appears to hate talking. Appears to stay low key...
YET! He confronted Towns in a live play-off game knowing the world was watching. That's is very TELLING to me.
If you check my posts I bought into the narrative of Kat being soft -until I followed Minny last year because I had JMAC on my BAF team.
I witnessed Kat guarding Joker and I welcomed him with open arms. Stuck up for him all year...

With all of that said- I cant ignore his entire "Knick" defensive story. It's not good. It's unfortunate and I really wish I didnt even have to discuss it or point it out but OG wouldn't confront him, if Kat wasn't a major problem defensively.

I think I recall this guy's videos from last season, critiquing other teams, but having a lot of praise for the Knicks scheme and rotations. This was in the glory month of January 2024. I think I'm remembering right. What a difference a year makes. You can't overestimate what the loss of Hartenstein meant

that is true. its not always shaqtin a fool coach's edition with each episode of his stream...when there is a game where there is defensive magnificence to be marvelled at, he also features such games, but these types tend to be less common

We've seen awful defensive lapses from everyone on the starting 5 all season long. Yes, OG included.

KAT aside, Brunson and Hart are just as bad at times if not worse.

I don't get the hate, we made our first ECF in 25 years. Keep the core, make some minor tweaks strengthening the rotation with less reliance on Josh and we run it back!
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

they're not trading brunson though. maybe hart will get traded. but the two stars together do not work. i posted this in another thread.

The fact is the Knicks just spent $152 million on a lineup that yielded the second-worst defense in the conference finals since NBA lineup tracking began in 2008. The lineup of Brunson, Bridges, Hart, Anunoby and Towns hemorrhaged 126.1 points per 100 possessions to the Pacers, the second-most points allowed per possession among the 63 lineups with at least 50 minutes played in the past 18 conference finals.

https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/knicks-trade-ideas-giannis-kd-a-mavs-deal-3-moves-that-can-get-new-york-over-the-top-190720651.html

i would love to trade mikal too but his value is too low right now compared to what you paid for him. you gotta give him some more time with the hope that either you want to keep him or he at least gets you 75 percent of what you paid for him. you'll never get 100 percent. right now i think the most you could get for him is 2 firsts. think about what pascal was traded for and what you could probably get for him now. you gotta hope you can rebuild his value. let's face it, the knicks really f*cked up over the summer. they should have done nothing except gotten a decent defensive center and held their chips until a big fish was available.
