AD and a first for LaMelo Ball who says no?

Post#1 » by Darren » Mon Jun 2, 2025 11:49 am

Flagg is PF So is AD. Flagg is not a primary playmaker in college. But LaMelo is. With Flagg, it's better to build a younger team. I am opened to take back Josh Green for PJ as well.

Mavs aren't going to do this.

Terrible deal for Dallas. Ball is not worth this, AD has more value so giving up the pick and the mere suggestion Dallas take back Green for PJ is just nonsensical.

Both probably? Dallas gives up too much value IMO, but it also feels directionally off for the Hornets.

I don't think DAL would have any interest in doing this, and the value seems off as AD is the better individual talent.

If DAL did say yes, it's very odd directionally for CHA. Would think they'd want to reroute Davis for rebuilding pieces.

This is ridiculous. AD is a top 10 Player.
Ball barely plays and isn’t top 50.
A legit deal would be Ball and several quality assets for AD.

Yall acting like AD is a picture of health. Crazy

As hornets fan not sure why you’d do this. Shows just how bad the Doncic deal was.

It’s not just health but impact.
LaMelo hasn’t shown himself to be a two way player when he is healthy.

Both teams should say no, but Charlotte has to at least think about it--they can flip AD for more than they could get for Ball so its a value play. This just makes no sense for Dallas really on any level.

Well one player is really great at basketball. One isn't. The one whose health you seem unconcerned about has this for career games played:

51
75
36
22
47

Odd take to suggest health a real advantage for Ball and nobody would claim he approaches AD as a player.

As a Dallas fan, I don’t think they’d need to add. But it does help the team tank next season, so we know I like the idea of it?

Think you need a third team for AD as the Ball/Miller duo is why Charlotte should look at AD (or at least could look at AD).. without Ball’s ceiling/potential.. they’d just be trading AD after this anyways:

AD has way more value than Ball but also as others have said it makes little sense for Charlotte to make a win now trade with ball

Hornets take it and figure out where to send AD later, this is insane value for Lamelo.

There are certainly concerns with Davis, but LaMelo may be the player most unserious about winning that I've seen in over four decades of following the league. It might be a pass for both teams, but it's an immediate and automatic one for the Mavs.

If the end result of the Mavs trade was going to be Dallas trading Luka for Melo and Max Christie, they should've just talked to us first

I'm not interested in building around a 32-year-old AD

Yeah I mean you can criticize the logic of the original Luka/AD deal all you want, but with that being a sunk cost there's no reason to reverse it for a far inferior player to Luka in Melo.

If they wanted a young offensive engine with questionable defense...they could have just kept Luka.

I can't even begin to imagine the outrage if Harrison essentially turned Luka into LaMelo.

No way this trade would ever happen.

This is pretty vile for Dallas, and I say that as someone who is a fan of LaMelo Ball as a player.

This just ugly value wise for the Mavericks. Lamelo hasn't shown that he he's winning player and he has his own injury history. The Hornets are going need to send out much more than this for this work on the Mavericks, which they shouldn't considering they are ways off from being even being a playoff contender.
