Barnes+RJ for Giannis is a competitive player base to add picks too

Raps would still have IQ, Dick, BI, Poeltl around Giannis

Money does not work. I fooled around with the trade machine and could not get any deal to pass. It might need to be a three team trade.

Why not? Given Lillard is out with an achilles injury, what does that leave the Buckets?

Kuzma? Portis? and aging Brook Lopez?

If the Raps have the best package (which they probably don't).

that likely leaves,

IQ / Ingram / Poeltl with some of subset of Barnes, RJ, Ochai, Dick, Walter, Shead, Battle, Lawson Mogbo, #39.

I think for sure it's a better situation. Is it contending? Meh... probably not.

Maybe the Bucks really want Barnes. Barnes is a similar talent to Paolo....they may just like him more. I was thinking Paolo but this isn't that surprising IMO

If he really does want to stay in the East (maybe cuz easier path?, family, investments etc) then Scottie Barnes would be the best asset to get in return IMO. I think ORL isn't doing this and fine with building around Paolo/Franz

Picks on top of this but this is probably a framework of it.

Let's be very clear here though. We hear this from the Raptors a lot...the chances of it happening are low...

This is true. We're like the 2000s Knicks; every star is a moment away...

2025 Knicks appear to be still a star a moment away (from real contention).

Brunson wants to run it back and believes they can contend for championships. (This Knicks fan says LOL @ that)

Maybe Giannis has a tremendous amount of respect for Masai and wants to be involved with the Raptors in a major part because he is involved with the organization.

Plus add 3 1sts.

Raps could also facilitate a larger trade with NOP, where Milwaukee gets their pick back. Thinking along the lines of taking on Dejounte (out with achilles maybe all of next year) for Quickley. That Milwaukee pick will be good, but why rely on a lottery when you can guaranteed cash out of Dejounte. Maybe Alvarado goes to TOR, as they need a PG. it needs to be balanced out, but this is the base of a framework to get Milwaukee their pick back.

It's too messy for Bucks to get their picks back.

RJ+Barnes plus capspace and Portis/BroLo will get the bucks play in level in the East

The deal I saw I thought was intriguing was

Raps - Giannis
Bucks - Zion and their swaps
Pels - Barnes
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

I meant more how New York used to be involved in like every FA signing rumor ever for a period.

I doubt it.

Masai helped Giannis’ family get Greek citizenships

Raptors starting 5 next year is just gonna be the Antetokounmpo brothers

Yeah I don't get it - Toronto is a great organization but what's left after a Giannis trade? Its honestly no better than a healthy Milwaukee team.

It is Giannis or bust. Trade everyone except Barnes for Giannis. Gianni's got to play in a big international city, stays in the weak East Coast.

Openness from both parties and the need for a change I would say. And prob questions around what the Bucks can do with what I think are limited assets.

That said, Raps lineup and coaching is entirely unproven and certainly not an ideal spot for a player at 30 looking for a second title. Nothing in the situation really compares to 2018, from the Raps perspective.

Quickly/Ingram/Poeltl and Toronto's bench is def better than the Bucks sans Lillard. AKA Kuzma, Portis, Trent, Porter Jr.
