Re: Free Agency & Trades Rumours Thread
I think Colin Sexton would be a great acquisition for our roster. He's an excellent on ball creator who can break defenders down off the dribble and attack the rim. He's also improved his 3 point shooting now to the point that it's a strength. He's not huge, at just 6'1 without shoes, but he has a 6'7 wingspan and is very athletic. He's also a young vet who would fit our timeline at 26 years of age. He's not a traditional point guard, but given our playing style and the fact that Scottie, Yak, and BI will be our primary initiators, his ability to play both on and off the ball, put pressure on the rim, and act as a pressure valve in late clock situations would give us a dynamic we don't currently have. Also of importance, he has that dawg in him. This guy is super aggressive and not afraid of taking the last shot.

Im trying to see if there is bottom barrel free agent shopping we can do, because it's clear as day the Raptors want to be competitive next season
we have like 4-5 mil to fill 2 positions, before we hit tax
Agbaji traded for as high a 1st pick as you can and save $5 million, not taking back any salary. Then use most of the MLE for Luke Kornet.
even if you traded agbaji for the 30th pick, that only adds 1.2ishmil room under tax. if you trade him for a pick higher than 20 you start reducing room under tax.

Who’s the guy we would trade one of our starters for? Or has he not been drafted yet?
Well, both SGA and Hali were traded after one season. For Hali it was 1.5. That would have to be a rookie from this class. And the price would have to be someone like Scottie, because neither Hali or SGA came cheaply.
These guys aren't hiding in plain site. They generally make exceptional leaps from good to great to greatest. Maybe Scottie is already on that track?
Not even just a Haliburton or SGA, but even a guy like Dyson Daniels. Hawks got him and two picks for Dejounte Murray. Daniels was only in his second year but was second in defensive player of the year on the Hawks. These are the type of chances we need to take if we’re not building through the draft. I’d rather trade for 2nd or 3rd year guys with high potential than established vets.

Big fan of Sexton but I don’t think he makes a ton of sense with our roster, especially at that salary.
I could see a world where Miami or Orlando makes a move for him, but if not I think he plays out the year in Utah and becomes the #1 MLE target for a lot of teams next summer

Re: Free Agency & Trades Rumours Thread
The Raptors could give a good package for Giannis.
Barnes + RJ + Dick + 2 1st
I can't see a lot of teams beating that offer.
Giannis / Poeltl
9th / Mogbo
Ingram / Battle
Quickely / Walter
Shead / 39th
I would pick Fleming so we have spacing next to Giannis. Then at that point we rely on IQ and BI for scoring, Giannis for transition/defense, Shead and Fleming can be the primary defensive role players that space the floor. Shead would give another handler to run the pick and roll with Giannis.

Great post. Bolded are the players that are players that have upside potential/we could target. The players with asterisks I don’t think are available unless we make a substantial offer which kind of defeats the premise of getting an undervalued asset at a low cost. Btw I would trade anyone not named Scottie for Cason Wallace, that’s how high I am on that kid and his potential.

Trade Scottie plus draft capital for Giannis. Start Agbaji as the 3&D wing, move RJ to the sixth-man role, and let him and Dick try to replicate their earlier run where both dropped 25 a game, except this time, it should be even easier since they'll be up against backup units.

If you’re gonna bench RJ might as well trade him either as part of a Giannis trade or a separate one.
No need to bring a 25M a year player off the bench.
I wonder what a RJ plus 9th pick could get us if Giannis trade is a no-go.

Funny. I wonder if NYK tries to get Durant with KAT

I would keep an eye on Utah - they will probably tank again next season and seem to be willing to part ways with guys like Lauri and Kessler. Lauri would look great next to Scottie and Ingram

I see RJ similar to Valanciunas, move him to the bench until a Gasol style trade comes along.

For who? OG? Brunson ain’t letting the Nova Knicks be broken up so I doubt Mikal gets moved in the offseason. I think Mitchell and OG works salary wise but Durant, Brunson, KAT is an even worse defensive lineup than the Knicks existing one. Also too many mouths to feed.

Re: Free Agency & Trades Rumours Thread
I don't think the raptors are talented enough to give up a whack of assets for Giannis - I'd prefer they try to acquire a young player with upside who may be expendable with their current team - Really like Carson Wallace or maybe Topic doesn't have playing time available , are the Spurs able to give enough playing time to Fox, Castle and Harper? We don't know how BI will integrate into the current group or how a healthy IQ will perform - I like RJ very much but I think selling high on him is the way to go especially because of the salary he will likely command in his next contract.

What do you guys think of signing Luke Kornet? He seems like he'd be a good short term backup to Jakob in Darko's system. Just a really smart player.

I think the idea is you trade KAT for KD. Knicks upgrade for now while the Suns take a step back and get younger. I like it.

Just not sure if we will have enough meat left on the bone to even compete if we are able pull off a Giannis trade. We would likely be a playoff team but with a 1st or second round ceiling.
It is obvious Scottie will have to go but will throwing in Ochai and Dick and 2-3 picks be enough? Even then, will we have enough shooters to space the floor?

That was a good video. He'd be a great add for the team. I've read it stated that the team is near the tax so not sure how that would work.

$25M is not that much anymore.
We paid Serge that to come off the bench a half decade ago and it worked out
