I'm not saying he's wrong. I'm saying "Usually never" is funny.

If it is soon, that can be a big trade or coach hiring. The finals end in June 19th if it goes to 7 games. So we should expect this news to come out soon, because this can go to only game 5 which would be June 16, 2025.

Think the Knicks are putting word out there they wanna move on from KAT.

As much as he sucks on defense just like Randle he is far from being the greatest problem

Thibs lack of creativity and courage, Mikal Bridges shooting like Fields/MKG and being soft like cotton on both ends and Hart being lost on defense and doesnt shoot are our major isues!

When these are solves we can talk about KAT

Can it be anything other than a coaching change?

I mean trades at this point in time are not a thing right....what else could it be?

wonder what he's sitting on. my guess is giannis or KD-related.

unrelated: wasn't there some drama about the BKE account? like, harassment or something?

It's also possible he doesn't know anything definite, but figures something will happen, so if he just says we'll be shocked, it could apply to almost anything.

I don't think its player related. They probably haven't even had there exit interviews...to already have a trade lined up or interest in another player 48 hours after the playoffs ended seems far fetched.

I would guess its coaching related...it doesn't mean Thibs is also getting fired...could mean we try to find a new associate HC like we did with Johnny Bryant.

I think Rick stepped into that role which I don't think went over great...Rick is a great motivator and there from Jalen...but the associate HC should be there to challenge thibs. I thought we were a little more streamlined the year before when it was Thibs and Bryant in his ear then this ear when it was Thibs and his buddy (yes man) Rick in his ear.

i hear your point.

i was thinking along the lines of Giannis or KD statement on desires with regards to our team. not that there's something in place on our end.

It sounds more and more that Thibs may indeed be fired. Anything else really wouldn't be shocking at all.....like KD or Giannis anouncing that the Knicks are high on their list would not be shocking at all. Adding another assistant to the coaching staff would not be shocking at all.

The only shocking things at this point are likely not playe related:

Thibs getting fired (most likely)
Leon Rose stepping back (unlikely)
Dolan selling the team (unlikely)

The one thing that makes me a bit sceptical about the tweet is that it kind of implies that it is already a reached decision that is going to be anounced. Otherwise the wording should be different...

Looks like Giannis is interested in Toronto? He is tight with their GM.

The account on Twitter wouldn’t say “Knicks fans are going to be shocked” if it was something as small as an assistant coach. It’s either a firing or a trade.

Let alone giving poor Brunson a chance to play for a contender, or a real coach. His contract is pretty good, he'd net a few 1sts and a good young player. No other contracts are positive value, some are atrocious ( OG owed $164,000,000).

Dolan is going to tank immediately after making the ecf for the first time in 25 years?

Brunson is going to retire a Knick, better start figuring out how to put an improved team around him

Trading every pick for Bridges is what's going to hold the Knicks back imho,

My gut tells me the decision to trade for Bridges was directly tied to Brunson signing a lesser contract.

Bridges is one of his closest friends, and they all dreamed of playing together in the NBA. I wouldn't be surprised if Brunson said, "Get me Bridges and I'll agree to a lower contract to help the salary cap."

I love Kat but its time for him to look in the Mirror and CHALLENGE himself to take everything he does to the next level and at the very least FIX his weaknessess...

i think there was some nova magic in mind. i also think in theory he was the ideal piece for that construction in the moment.

it's never guaranteed you can get the "right" guy when you have assets. i understood and understand it.

i think we still have plenty and need minimal personnel tweaks but a lot of focus on our most glaring faults. i believe we have the core of a contender, KAT included.

i will also say, if that core includes both KAT and JB, the improvement is just going to have to be from within. you can't patch around our biggest issues with them. they have to both perform better on that end.

and if that's truly not realistic, i imagine a change would be made.
