With that said, I wouldn’t be trading Flagg on a rookie contract for anyone given today’s NBA CBA

I would trade Flagg for Wemby. But spurs wouldn’t .

Everyone would also trade him for Jokic. For SGA. I think they should for Giannis, but shockingly that's a minority opinion. Then there are some other guys I think Dallas absolutely would have to consider if their current team would(their teams would not lol).

Fair enough , but I was considering the “rookie contract” limitation.

Oh he put no restriction on it. He was talking about Flagg on a rookie deal. The point is Flagg is a valuable asset if Dallas wanted to trade him, but he's not the most valuable asset in the Association, as he suggests. I didn't include Luka for instance, or Edwards as well the Luka thing is a mess and Edwards discussion is going on already, but they should both be more valuable as well.

But we see this every year when we do most valuable players. MVP's get pushed down and highly touted prospects get elevated. Both more than they should.

Pretty interesting scenario. Risky for both teams but it also makes sense for both teams.

Minnesota cannot do this, no matter how good they figure Flagg will be. Dallas maybe should, but probably wouldn't.

Flagg has yet to play 1 nba minute. He could be the next great thing or he another highly touted prospect whos game for whatever reason didn't translate to the NBA level

Happens every year.

But yeah if Flagg has a start to his career anything approaching Edwards, Dallas is going to be thrilled. Minny has been one of the last 4 teams standing the last two years with a new governor. So unlikely they want to come in and trade the young face of the franchise to hope that eventually this new guy is just as good.

And if they were willing to consider that, Dallas should run far far away. It would signal that some of the immaturity we have seen from him on and off the court is more serious than we think and Minny wants out of the Edwards business desperately.

But the Wolves shouldn't consider this.
I get that but it's just not realistic like I've seen Flagg for Wemby again no Wemby is untouchable. What next Flagg for SGA or Jokic. Dallas should consider themselves lucky they got gifted Flagg. If Nico turned down Edwards, Wemby, SGA or Jokic for Flagg he should be fired on the spot.

I'm confused. I agreed with you. And I don't know where you saw Flagg for Wemby but it wasn't on this board.

And we are thrilled we got Flagg. But under no illusions Dallas can trade him for any of those players.

This trade wouldn't make sense for Minnesota. Back to back WCF appearances beating a plethora of ATG stars en route.

Flagg is one of the best prospects, for me, since LeBron (Wemby.clearly.better) and has an astronomically high floor, realistically outcome and is essentially "bust-proof" considering he can do so many things on the basketball court effectively.

You don't trade the best SG prospect since Wade for something unknown since you can likely win a championship with ANT as your best player during his prime.

I definitely have some more guys higher. AD, Luka come immediately to mind for instance.

But I see Flagg the same in terms of how safe he feels. It's hard for me to imagine a scenario that doesn't involve injury/personal issues where he doesn't become a good NBA player. He's got few weaknesses, and he's proven at every level, including against the USA national team his game translates as he moves up in competition.

I'm not sold on future superstar though. Haven't seen enough offensively from him. But I sure hope it comes. He's very young still.
