BOS/DAL/LAL/CHI - standard Jrue - now with the Bulls!

Post#1 » by djFan71 » Tue Jun 3, 2025 12:26 am

DAL in: Jrue
DAL out: Gafford, Marshall, Martin

CHI in: Knecht, Kleber*, Martin
CHI out: Carter

LAL in: Gafford
LAL out: Knecht, Kleber*

BOS in: Marshall, Carter
BOS out: Jrue

BOS - save $16.5M
DAL - gets Jrue
LAL - get Gafford for Luka lobs
Bulls - get Knecht for cap space

* Kleber could be any filler, Vanderbilt, Vincent, etc.

For the Bulls side, I view Martin as neutral to slightly positive. They could keep him to teach young guys to play hard, or flip him.

Bulls could send Dalen Terry instead and BOS saves $18M.

I feel like the Bulls are owed value......

Dallas needs a sweetener from Boston, Jrue is still good but he's still a big contract.

I'm fine with Dallas part. If Chicago doesn't value Martin Dallas could sub in Hardy/Powell which would save Chicago money long-term.

Texas Chuck signed off on the DAL portion in another thread, and he speaks for all of Dallas. :)

EDIT: unnecessary, the man himself weighed in at the same time.

I don't get how the Bull give up an expiring $6.1M Carter and get back twice that

Yes Knechte for basically nothing is great

Yes anybody who wants Dalen Terry tied with a bow

Martin is unneeded, 29years old, not even as good as Patrick Williams not going to teach Julian Phillips.

Kleber no sale, would rather get Vanderbilt Would rather get Powell as a 3rd center after trading Vucevic

Hard pass from Dallas. Jrue just doesn’t have that value anymore, they need a good 1st+ to make this even start to be close.

CHI has TPEs to take back more salary than they send out.

I understand that Martin is unneeded, but that's why you get Knecht for basically nothing which you called "great". Same with taking on Kleber. While you may prefer Vandy as a player over Kleber, can't imagine the actual team would prefer his 3 year deal over Kleber's expiring deal.

The point of this deal is that CHI gets an asset in Knecht for taking on the salary. You have to weigh if that's worth it.

Yep, this. Also, I'd argue that Martin is indeed better than Patrick Williams.

Dallas shouldnt take Jrue yet not give up Klay. Its absurd to have them both at their age and contracts on the team. No reason for both Gafford and Marshall to be included except to help LAL and Boston who arent giving up anything, yet getting value back.

If I’m agreeing with daoneandonly then the value is off for dallas

There was a different thread where it was Klay and we switched it to Marshall/Martin with some DAL fans agreeing, so I used it here. You are free to use Klay and your 29 first to upgrade elsewhere. Don't have to keep both.

It's just different valuations of Holiday, which is fine. He's old and expensive, so I get it, but he's also just still really, really good. The narrative that he declined on D is just wrong, imo. And his offensive numbers are due to role, not skill. I expect he'll bounce back a little next year after a summer without the deep playoff run and the Olympics and being on a different team. But, it's not anything where I expect anyone will change their opinion of his value here.

Boston is giving up the best player and also taking back Ball.
