I hope Brunson is channeling Derek jeter and wants to win at all costs. I worry about his comments about his over confidence in this group and full support of Thibs. If we keep all of his friends and coach he wants and this was the furthest we go in his run here his legacy takes a major hit

You’re simply underrating this group.

Gut feeling, the trade that happens is Mikal for JJJ.

Does it make the Knicks better? No.

I guess the follow on trade would be for Divo, however that happens.

It's not what I want, it's what I think this FO wants.

KAT
JJJ
OG
Divo
Brunson

Hart
Mitch
Whatever etc

Starting lineup still has defensive issues in the backcourt. But I think they like the taller KAT/Someone who can play defense thing in the frontcourt.

Brunson, Durant and KAT would be pretty crazy. We'd still need a defensive shooting guard though.

They throw them the only first rounder they can trade and a couple of 2nds.

Maybe they expand the trade with a 3rd team.

JJJ is CAA and I think the rumors have legs.

You keep Wright for extra defense as he can play or guard the 1 or 2 easily. We have plenty of offense so he doesn't need to be great offensively (just hit the occasional 3).

Hart hopefully rebounds from a pretty inconsistent year defensively. Maybe McCuller can contribute a bit.

Isn't the above trade not possible because the Suns are deep in the 2nd apron?

These potential trades aside, Knicks have some bench decisions, based on $

Payne vs Wright - I wouldn't keep both
Shamet vs someone different. Shamet isn't any team's lock to stay on a bench
Precious vs someone tall who can make a 3
PJ Tucker vs someone who can actually play

They probably are waiting to see who emerges from Dadiet vs McCullars to possibly get minutes
They might want to look into a vet PG who can actually play like Tyus Jones or Schroeder while letting Kolek sit another year (yes, I know he's 24)
Like Marks said, at some point a team is looking for late first picks to be able to play in year 2; to me that includes 2nd rounders and UDFA guys, so

Huk
Kolek
Dadiet
McCullars

Knicks only have a protected first round pick from the Wizards that will likely not convert. There is a higher chance the Grizz build around JJJ than trade him for a package that the Knicks currently can give. Only realistic blockbuster trade this offseason would be KD for Towns or maybe Giannis if Milwaukee has a hard on for Towns but even that is unlikely.

the only way to make Durant work for Mikal salary wise would be to include OG as well...Meaning you don't make the trade.

There is a 30 MM difference between Mikal and Durant...which most people have lost sight on why they made the trade. His cheap salary for multiple years allowed us to fit him in with other high priced players.

Just a gut feeling.

Let's go pay Mikal 40 million per then. Will be great having 140 million tied up in KAT/Vaginus /Mikal/OG

Knicks stuck with this sorry ass team. See you for the next season for the 48 wins and 2nd round exit.

I think it does too because not only is JJJ CAA but he only has 1 year left on his deal and may hint he may not re-sign with them. Bridges didn't seem to love his Knick experience and is not CAA. Begley has already hinted Bridges may not extend. Does a coaching change change that? Dunno. It definitely feels like at least 1 of the 2 of KAT or Bridges will be attempted to be moved but KAT is the guy Leon is much much closer with and his offensive production was outstanding. Maybe they think better coaching or adding JJJ next to him would help KAT. Bridges though part of the Nova guys, he doesnt seem to be as close to Brunson as Hart or Divo were.
