Besides Europe, this has been a tough watch season. Basically perfectly drawn up final for us once we knew Kulu and Madders were out.

First of all, hope you're doing well, brother. This season has been one of the toughest to watch in all my years of supporting Spurs, that's for sure, so this has been a welcome reprieve and finally ends the pain and mockery we've suffered for so long. For now, anyway. Seeing so many of our ex-players like Kane, Bale, Lucas Moura, Lamela, Big Sandro, Dele, etc. all coming out showing support for our cup win, still referring to Spurs as "we", knowing that Spurs finally got over the line, it truly warms my heart.

I've been highly critical of Ange all season, but he got it spot-on on the final. This United team cannot handle physicality. We sat deep, knowing that they couldn't really lay a glove on us other than crosses, and defended really strongly. Yes it was a poor spectacle, but we bullied them all over the park. Guys like Richarlison and Bissouma putting in monster defensive shifts. We finally showed the mental toughness to win when it counts.

I honestly don't know, I don't really want to think about it for the time being. Baseline pointed out that, if we do retain him, it will be another situation like Ten Hag at United after they won the FA Cup. It's clear that Ange should have been sacked a while ago, our league form has been totally unacceptable, even with the injuries. I'm going to just enjoy the EL win for now and see what happens next.

I'm thinking if he stays, he'll maybe he'll take his medicine and play more of this heavy defensive football in an effort to ease the fatigue and injury issues. Obviously the league hasn't been a priority for months now but I can't help but think playing in a similar style, maybe not so severely defensive, would have gotten us at least in the upper half at minimum.

Yeah, Sarr, who has been in questionable form all year, put in his best game too. Throwing on Danso for the last 10 to inevitably mark slabhead McGuire when he gets thrown up top was perfect as well.

Had a feeling we'd take this one as I think we simply just wanted it more.

Yeah, I didn't want to say it too loudly, but with our recent record against United I felt pretty good about winning this. I can't say I went in to our CL final against Liverpool, or our cup finals against Chelsea and City with that same belief. Danso did a good job when he came on, but I have to say the whole team defended well as a group. Romero got his MOTM and Player of the Tournament, while really getting under Maguire's skin during the game.

It felt like it was our time, and it was. I'm now in the process of absorbing every single piece of content related to our winning the EL, and I'm off to the parade later. It still feels like a dream and hasn't fully sunk in yet.

that'd be lovely! (we still need to qualify this weekend)

At least Vicario got the chance to edit Chiellini's quote from 2018:
“It’s the history of the Tottenham. We’ve changed history,” Vicario wrote on Thursday.

Ecstatic for him and Udogie, as well as Kulu and Bentancur and of course Sonny boy.

Spurs have elected to reach out to candidates. It's clear the club does not COMPLETELY back Ange. Would be a mistake to continue with him (ex. Ten Hag and Manchester United).

Is this guy reliable? I've seen similar rumblings but they're all citing the same source, and I don't know if it's credible.

Not the biggest fan of Frank, personally, but I guess I'm somewhat open to the idea.

edit: Just saw this post by Fabrizio Romano:

I don't think it looks good for Ange if this information is going public. But then again, I guess United also interviewed Tuchel before keeping ETH.

Think it's worth mentioning that Ryan Mason has just become the manager of West Brom. Best of luck to him, hope he smashes it.

It would have been in poor taste if he remained with the club. You don't feel out other managers unless you have already decided to make the change. I'm surprised it has taken this long.

EDIT: Personally, I lost all respect for Ange with his comments after the Liverpool match -- the one involving a legit Diaz goal not given due to a lack of proper communication between VAR and the on-field ref.

I have a feeling they were finalising a contract offer and compensation for a manager (probably Thomas Frank) and wanted to be sure that they could get their man before confirming the sack. Kind of crazy because Ange was saying the best series are in season 3 just for him to get booted 2 weeks later lol. I’m sure he must’ve known he was likely to get canned regardless of winning EL.

Sounds as if Thomas Frank will be the next manager.

Paying 4m to sack Ange and 10m for Frank...

A difficult decision, but the correct decision. Thank you for the trophy, Ange.

We now presumably get a full summer window and preseason with the new manager and avoid a potential Ten Hag situation. Thomas Frank though... Would be another underwhelming appointment.

I wouldn't even classify this as a difficult decision. Fans are emotional, as well as they should be. But the brass above are meant to be rational. You cannot have a manager who doesn't know how to juggle multiple competitions.

Tottenham fans are already divided. To go into next season would only exacerbate that. As soon as Ange loses a couple of matches, that trophy loses its luster and reality kicks in. For the remainder of the year, those that had wanted him out earlier will blast Levy for not having the foresight despite the example of Ten Hag a year prior.

Time will tell if Frank is the right call. I think the Crystal Palace manager would have been a better shout.

Who would you want as next manager?

Personally I'd prefer Iraola or Glasner if we're looking in the PL, but I understand that they're not likely to leave their clubs.

Frank is okay, don't get me wrong, but I'm slightly sceptical of him being able to turn water into wine at another club. He's very entrenched in that Brentford setup, and he has done well with limited resources - but it feels like the whole club was structured around him. I'm just not sure if that will be portable to another club. The expectations at Spurs, for better or worse, are higher.

Honestly Thomas Frank is a top, top manager. I rate him very highly.

Brentford have an extremely underrated squad, the smartest thing Spurs could do is raid them.

Bryan Mbeumo aside, Nathan Collins & Mikkel Damsgaard are serious needle movers.

The more I see and read about him, the more I think he could do a good job at Spurs. I'm definitely coming around to the idea of Frank. His tactical flexibility and hands-on training and man management approach could be what this squad needs. I'm not expecting miracles but I'm certainly more enthused about the appointment than I was a few days ago, with some time to reflect.
