I mean if they give a damn they could have a much better team trying to win. Could still not be in the play-ins but at least trying to win.

I think it’s going to be shocking to Jazz fans how awful they are once they’re trying to win. I think there’s a good chance they’re picking 4-7 again the next two years while trying to win games.

I don't think it will be shocking. We have 4 players who aren't replacement level (Lauri, Kessler, Sexton, Collins) and maaaaybe a 5th (Filipowski). The team is awful, and aborting the rebuild at this stage, when we finally committed, is absolutely idiotic.

End of the Zion Era?

Shamit Dua: I’ve just been texting random executives across the league. This is speculation, right? This is not them saying this is what we would do. This is just them guessing, right? I was like this is straight off asking people like would anyone touch Zion with a 10-foot pole? And there seems to be this general idea of like you kind of saw it with with like Derrick Rose and Kristaps Porzingis that like there will be teams that do not necessarily care about the reputation provided they have enough general information to know that this is going to get settled out of court and the allegations won’t stick. There will be teams who do not care and but those teams who do not care need to be sufficiently desperate one and two they’re not going to give you anything of value. So you’re going to get really bad contracts and likely no picks. But if you do get a pick, it’s a late pick. So an example would be Andrew Wiggins and Duncan Robinson for Zion and some small salary just to kind of make it even.

Not pretending it’s a good idea. But was trying the value out..

Kessler to NOP
Collins, Martin Jr, Cody Williams, Taylor Hendricks, 5th, 2026 swap rights returned, 2027 best of LAL/Utah/Minn/Cleveland, 2028 Utah first (swap rights with Minn/Cleveland), 2029 best of Utah/Minn/Cleveland, 2031 Phoenix to Milwaukee
Jrue Giannis to Utah
Clarkson to Boston

Utah hopes the Giannis/Jrue reunion brings Brook. With Lauri/Sexton makes a really group I think? Flipowski hopefully develops quickly in a great atmosphere. Same with Collier.. some hope in Brice and less in George.

Milwaukee ends up with two prospects that had high ceilings, not valuing them at their ceilings obviously.. the 5th pick and 4 more firsts a couple have some potential, as well as the option to tank next season?

giannis probably says no to that. he might not even make the playoffs in the stacked west. Why did you mention Jrue reunion? who is utah sending out for Jrue?

You are right, I didn’t write Jrue in the trade. But the rest of the trade is laid out yeah..

according to my finger math..

Collins, Clarkson, 5th, Martin, Cody, Hendricks, Kessler match Jrue and Giannis

Really depends on how good Utah still thinks Lauri is, if he can be the second best player on a contender then you’re happy with Sexton/Jrue as the 3rd/4th and a handful of kids hopefully developing as nice depth?

Hard to imagine Giannis/Lauri/Sexton/Jrue not making the playoffs though.

Aggressive offer for Milwaukee. I get the Freak/Jrue reunion vibe, but for this kind of an outlay from Utah it would be more appropriate to target White than Holiday; not sure how much Jrue has left in the tank. The money still works.

Why would the Cavs do that?

Aggressive offer for Milwaukee. Jrue?

Yeah. Typo fixed.

He’s overpaid but would be a great fit. And a great role model for Collier. And Utah needs the win now help if they trade for Giannis.

Not offering any value, just taking advantage of the matching opportunity and throwing in a Clarkson/Jrue swap.

I think you probably could push for 32 to be included? Or try for 43 for 28? Eh

I saw your previous reply, then I edited mine. White instead of Jrue makes far more sense if the Jazz are spending big to make a deal happen.

As of right now, Giannis is missing from Milwaukee roster on Spotrac's Trade Checker. Did a trade happen that I missed? Seems like that would have been big news.

Utah doesn’t really have the ability to be the top bidder for Giannis and White imo. Does Boston take Clarkson, Collier and the Utah 2030 first? Could sprinkle in some other value..21st or the other kids on roster?.. probably enough value, but would Boston do that type? Could throw in 2032..

Maybe I’m too high on White’s value?

Jrue is a free upgrade that hopefully rubs off on the cheap young guard (or guards if you believe in George)..

He is expensive though. But if the reunion vibes help bring Brook then you have two pretty ideal mentors for Flip/Collier and the rookie contracts Utah does have should keep the roster pretty affordable for a few years.

I get it, just concerned that Jrue looked gassed at the end.

And zero belief in George.

This makes no real sense. Either he is reporting Phoenix is working on a deal with Houston, there is no point to the specific inclusion of 10. For a team to be like Real GM posters and want their own picks back rather than simply the best return, what would matter is future picks, not this years.

I also struggle to see Phoenix getting 10 and their own picks back here. Even if they take Green, and Phoenix is maybe the last team to be able to realize value out of Green.

Confusing report to say the least.

It might not be shocking to people on these forums but for the average Jazz fan I think it’ll be shocking. The narrative that I hear is that we’re purposely missing the playoffs. People have confused ranking from 5-8 to 1-3 with having a team that could be competitive and choosing not to be.
