"Multiple PM discussions" is a bit extreme as well, as I was doing what I was asked, it's also what the mods want us to do going forward instead of getting into it with people. I wasn't twisted up, just tired of the nonsense of people ruining the board. Just want RGM Knicks to go back to an actual place to discuss basketball instead of just trolling. Luckily mods agree, so clearly it wasn't unfounded. Tons of people on this board feel the same way, and unfortunately some left because of it already. Hence the new Summer post asking them to return.

true.

it was a different implied compromise and challenge to our ethics.

viewtopic.php?f=24&t=2461524&p=118815612#p118815612

Yeah exactly. Was personally just dumbfounded at the time because it felt like our voices weren't being heard as the issues were going on for years. But as we both know we had a good discussion and I will not be implying or doing those things in the future and I apologize for it as well just wasn't really sure why it felt like people were getting away with things for such a long time.

I'm happy we're turning the page on that now and look forward to going back to how good RGM Knicks was before.

we did. and i still appreciate the discussion. and i too look forward to turning the page.

that requires really turning the page though, if you get me. like, calming tf down and leaving **** be. otherwise, it's going to be a never ending circular conversation that doesn't end well. not everyone is capable of this part.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

if 2 people don't like each other, don't interact. it doesn't need to be more complicated than that.

That's a bingo. Almost everyone who's still here brings value to the conversation and it would be substantial to the community to lose them even if it would ease some portions of the conversation. We do not view community members like trolls from another forum or newbs who might just want to cause ruckus and that piece is harder. Certain posters troll out of one side of their mouth and post really interesting stuff out of the other. But we can't have every thread get overwhelmed by the former.

Even the **** post fights aren't inherently bad and are pretty clearly what some of the posters enjoy about the forum. Just not when we're trying to talk about the game. So **** post here. Go on and on and on and on about the need to fire Thibs aside from what just happened in the game in the Thibs thread. Things of that nature.

I think the overall temperature of the board has cooled down a bit in the last day or two.

When some folks antagonize or troll, disengaging or putting them on ignore is a useful tactic, and we all prefer dicussing the issues and not the sins and failures (supposed or real) of fellow board members. I've been unhappy when I discuss and issue but receive a personal attack in return.

It's even more vexing when we see hostility expressed towards minority or marginalized groups. It could appear that not opposing it would signal our tacit approval, and the discussion takes on a whole new, worse feeling. This can overcome our restraint and causes a downward spiral in both the quality of the discussion and the number of folks who want to participate.

The new policies expressed by the mods, if they work, should make it easier to speak our minds about the issues without fear of personal reprisal and reduce those occasions when we feel we have to stand up for those who are in need of our support. If the new rules work, occasional use of ignore and rare use of the reporting button could be sufficient, with the need for us to return fire. I'm good with this.

all of this is so crazy. i feel bad for the mods. it's always been my experience here that a lot of people don't really want debates. they only want to read posts from people who agree with them. this is true for our larger society as well unfortunately. and what they really want is for these voices to be vanished completely. and over enough time a lot of them will actually adopt these opposing viewpoints but still hate the person they disagreed with. i guess it doesn't pay to be an early adopter lol

Nah sham this ain't about "people disagreeing with basketball opinions" and more about the constant antagonizing, trolling, and overall how it's destroyed the quality posts on this board. This board used to have a mix of everything, a little bit of trolling, but mostly was a great place to talk and discuss basketball opinions. Over the last 3-4 years the board has deteriorated due to certain posters adopting this "new style" of posting in which it's just constant antagonizing, lying about others, and just overall not debating basketball in good faith which has lead to many long time members not wanting to deal with or read or post on the board any longer.

You're kinda missing the point of you believe people are upset about being called "a bitch" or whatever simplification you're trying to do here. All of us can handle being called that not a big deal, it's the overall toxicity, and ruining of the community due to certain groups constant antagonizing and just bad faith arguments that is the issue. When certain posters are happy to see the Knicks lose in the ECF just so they can come to the board and dance around and say I told you so I told you so and just make false bad faith arguments pretending to be innocent then it's an issue. We want Knicks fans here to discuss Knicks basketball, not trolls here looking to exploit every situation, they're not Knicks fans at that point.

And obviously the mods agree hence the new standards they're going to uphold and they admitted that they need to step up and they dropped the ball on how bad it's gotten so good on them. I appreciate their efforts as the jobs not paid obviously, but it is part of the job they're volunteering for which is a choice. they're pretty good at it.

As far as the PMing goes that is what the mods instructed others to do instead of getting into it with posters so they're only following what the protocol is.

Hope that clears this up for you brother I look forward to RGM Knicks getting back to quality posts and good vibes instead of whatever's been going on the last 3-4 years unfiltered trolling.

just put melo on ignore. see how simple that is. then you won't interact with him. why do you need him gone completely if you don't talk to him anymore ? and if the mods feel it's time for him to go he'll be gone. they don't really need help figuring this stuff out.

I took a couple days off, come back and see sweeping changes because of meLo. Why would anyone put meLo on their ignore? Especially not this season, at least, his nearly year long crash out has been hilarious. Your boy got hit with the first board RICO charge that has created the forum FBI as a result, I will never let him live this down. Of course, I'm a company man and will heckle him within the confines of this thread, because I'm a slippery one that understands the rules.

All of this, because of Julius Randle too

Randle and KAT may be equal, but throwing Donte in was overpayment.

You're entitled to that opinion; however, I don't think you're going to get hit with a RealGM gang injunction for crashing out for 9 months over Donte, will you?

Within 12 months -

Randle traded
meLo at the top of the RGM most wanted list
Tom fired

So many wins, but......Knicks made ECF and lost.

I'm astonished by the consistency. Taking L after L after L...each one worse than the last.

Truly dedicated to his craft. Never keeps his fans waiting long for his next L to drop.

meLo is the escapegoat cause everyone does the same sht he does. He is just better at it.

He runs his mouth and talks sht at an exceptional level. The same which is going on in the thibs being canned thread. One of the main difference is meLo just stands alone. He has horrible taste, besides his love of lard filled chocolate wafer cookies.

Anyways, I hope he isnt banned but if the other option is he is in a diabetic coma Im rooting for the former. And will most likely join him in the near future cause ill be damned if I read a ts to talk about knicks hoops with you heathens.

If anyone's interested in joining a sim basketball community, come join Build a Franchise. You get to get scammed by all your favorite mods (and ex-mods) too.

(But seriously, we have 2 slots and it's lots of fun)

I mean, really it's just everyone talks **** for 6 months and then mpharris wins.

Other than that last bit, it really is a lot of fun.

Nah, he definitely doesn't stand alone, the most subtle thing here is that sham uses him as his attack dog. Look at how many times meLo says "me and sham" in his posts, but sham moves in silence and almost never says "me and meLo", he understands how to move like a proper villain, he'll get meLo all charged up and then vanish from the thread while meLo takes all the heat.

If anything, meLo should look at those around him that feed into his suspensions, sham never gets suspended, because he has a fall guy. Follow the money.
