I know most here are stoked. But Im a lil leary about the change. We were an insane bounce from a game 7 ecf game at home with thibs. But I do think thibs shtick of inspiration has a shelf life and was prolly expired.
I'm feeling similar ways tbh. Thibs has NY spirit even though there may be room for improvement.
Wish we just made the Finals this year, then the story may be different

It’s the dood that coached us last year, Johnnie Bryant, or the coach that coached them at nova, jay wright
we gon see.
i don't know what to think right now.
He lost this series in game 2 of the pacers series, the meltdown in game 1 was one thing, but game 2 was a winnable game. He started the 4th quarter with cam Payne, we went into the quarter tied. We then go down 6. A timeout is called, we come out with the same lineup which included Cam Payne, we go down 12.
I said this earlier in the threads. He lost the job when he lost Game 2. A lot of inner circles and front office statisticians did NOT like that.
SEE YA THIBS! Just like I called it

Here's the problem, our defense was better against them in the playoffs this season, last season with half the team hurt we had a better ORTG by almost +4.
So, somehow our offense got worse with more offensive weapons?
yes because our outside shooting was worse
We made .6 less threes this season at the same exact percentage as last year.
The man didn't even try to get Brunson/KAT to work together during the season, and that showed up in the playoffs. The offense was crap, and against the Pacers we could not keep up with their scoring, despite the defense performing better than last season (118 DRTG vs 124 DRTG).
This team was put together under the assumption it would be an offensive monster, it was not, and that's on the coach for running the same old tired ISO offense.
A team with Brunson, Towns, Anunoby and Bridges should never struggle offensively under any circumstances.
Jay Williams called this earlier today. That late 90s 00s approach had to go.

That's pretty interesting. Is a DdV trade part of that? Not necessarily against, just asking.

What’s his thoughts on defense.
He implements zone, the same technique that won game 3 for the Cavs against the pacers
Atkinson went away from that in game 4

If they're going to do it, best to get it done quick and start looking for a new coach and . . . Maybe the best thing about this. No more complaining about Thibs.
Go Knicks!! Go Mets!!
As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.

Yep. That definitely was the straw that broke the camels back. It was inexcusable.
Everything aside, we were being gaslighted all season about Tom, but Leon wasn't.
This also makes me think that he isn't going to be afraid to pivot from Mikal.
Jay10 speculated that Thibs started making lineups adjustments (Shamet/Wright) due to management pressures.
Whether that's true or not, management went out and got those guys for him this year and he refused to use them until the situation or management themselves forced his hand. That's... gonna piss 'em off especially since both players clearly helped when we started to use them. That's ticket out of town material.

Re: Breaking: Tom Fired
JWill says it here at the 1:00 mark… 770 more minutes our starters played than the Pacers starters over the season… that’s 16 games.
If you don’t think that contributes to mental and physical fatigue in damn near June, then you’re ignoring math, science, logic, professional players (champions & legends), and former/current Thibs players.
This along with that game 1 meltdown and a lack of offense and defense, JB/KAT having no synergy, and players fighting, this is what happens. It’s the right move. We’ve been telling ya’ll all season.

No team has a perfect roster. It is a choice to not try anything at all season until you start a series 0-2. The fact that McBride got 50 minutes the whole season with starters while Hart got 1250 shows the lack of any in game coaching and simply going through motions with Thibs. Even perfect rosters need an in game coach. Thibs refuse to do that. See how quickly Carlisle were taking timeouts after a Knicks run vs how long Thibs waits until we dug ourselves a really big hole before deciding to intervene
No roster is perfect and good coaches will adapt to what they have.
We've said since Christmas that what Tom was doing was asinine and we got told we were crazy. Now look.
All I can say is, I hope you’re right. It was super clear coming into the season that our bench would be paper thin, and this was going to be a year that our starters had to carry us through and hopefully make the incremental bench adjustments this offseason.
Everyone saw it and accepted it at the time. The only thing that changed was the moving goalposts - Thibs became a victim of his own success and outperformance beyond the overall construct of this roster. We’ll now get to see if the expectations were wrong then or now.

You're not soft for having empathy for Tom, Guano. I feel bad for him because this job was everything to him.
Yeah he's owed 30mil but man when you lose something you love, it can destroy you. I hope he will be alright mentally.
