I know most here are stoked. But Im a lil leary about the change. We were an insane bounce from a game 7 ecf game at home with thibs. But I do think thibs shtick of inspiration has a shelf life and was prolly expired.

You're not soft for having empathy for Tom, Guano. I feel bad for him because this job was everything to him.

Yeah he's owed 30mil but man when you lose something you love, it can destroy you. I hope he will be alright mentally.

For sure. I'm not cheering. This guy meant a lot to the franchise and the franchise meant a lot to him.

I believe there are HCs out there that can bring more to this group but we have to get one and it has to work. There's a mountain of work yet to come.

what about vs indy in the playoffs ?

We made 10 per game this season vs them, 12 per game last season.

Which brings us back to the bench too, because Shamet only played 53 minutes, yet he's tied for 4th with Bridges in made threes against them. He was 7-13 from three, maybe that could have helped us with the shooting.

Anyway, he's gone and he's not coming back to coach so I don't even need to argue this much now, the front office agreed with me 8-)

i actually don't care. i just think the roster was a much bigger problem. we'll see if they do anything about that. running it back will produce a similar result to me.

I doubt that they're going to run it back, someone between KAT, Mikal or Josh is gone. They've already shown they're willing to make a big change, it's championship or bust, and Tom is not a championship coach. If they feel the roster isn't a championship roster they'll make changes.

Yeah, he loved this sht with everything. It was his true passion and im glad that he was able to live his dream job and taking us to the ecf was one of the greatest experiencing I've had watching this team. his "shortcomings" and "ffailures" lead to his demise here but his overall tenure should be celebrated. He is a knicks legend.

And yeah I hope he finds peace. He fcking deserves it.

As I suspected. Thibs was probably made to play the bench at the end. Injuries or not. Since when did he care about injured players. The writing was on the wall then when they didn't win and his bench played well

I think Jalen knew for awhile now. Just my guess. That might have been why he snapped at that reporter the other day when asked about Tom's job.

I'm feeling similar ways tbh. Thibs has NY spirit even though there may be room for improvement.

Wish we just made the Finals this year, then the story may be different

NY SPIRIT??? where. How. He only watched the game. Never fought for his team. Only blamed the players. No accountability. I guess we were watching two different guys

You might be right. His biggest issue was making gameplan changes and accountability. I like the defensive culture he helped establish though

we gon see.

i don't know what to think right now.

He lost this series in game 2 of the pacers series, the meltdown in game 1 was one thing, but game 2 was a winnable game. He started the 4th quarter with cam Payne, we went into the quarter tied. We then go down 6. A timeout is called, we come out with the same lineup which included Cam Payne, we go down 12.

I said this earlier in the threads. He lost the job when he lost Game 2. A lot of inner circles and front office statisticians did NOT like that.

SEE YA THIBS! Just like I called it

these non sequiturs, man. so hard to follow.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

He's getting $30 million over the next couple of years, if he wants to switch bank accounts with me and coach an AAU team in my name, I'll do it happily.

Just rumors but seeing this came from Dolan. Wouldn't be surprised because with Leon's track record I just didn't see this coming.

I feel like Mike Malone is the easy answer here if he's interested. Still think he's a great coach despite whatever happened at the end in Denver.

Crazy to think if we won game 1 and went to the finals he's more than likely still here.

Yeah man.

Again, I was very critical of Tom this year. I feel like everything was a step backwards. But at the end of the day we gotta keep in mind that there's a human being at the center of this.

I would image some feelers have already been put out. Otherwise the announcement would not yet have happened.

Again, to blame the coach for the loss roster flaws is just flat out wrong. Again with ALL OF THAT SAID, I trust Leon and his decision making. I am disappointed Thibs is gone, but I WILL
KEEP SAYING THIS, a new coach WILL NOT FIX THE ROSTER FLAWS..but now this is step one, i will keep saying this a new coach deserves to not have KAT and brunson..at least give the new coach a chance

I agree with a lot of the sentiment. However in this case the coach was responsible for the quite decent bench not being used and/or developed properly. Live by inflexibly grinding 52 wins a season with the starters all playing over 40 minutes a game/die by it. Even without talking about the actual plays and so on.

Dollars to donuts that this wasn't a Dolan decision. It was definitely Leon Rose's decision.

Agreed. Like it or loathe it this really looks like Leon Rose already having identified that Thibs needed to go. My thread probably tipped him off in mid-season. My post that Thibs needed to go even if the Knicks won the championship, early in the playoffs, was probably the final piece of information he needed.

Doubt he knew. Seems like a genuine guy. I’m sure Brunson is upset but in the same way like trading someone like Donte, Brunson is committed to the ultimate task of winning a title and all that it comes with.

Dont be fooled by Brunson...His father has schooled him from 5 years old about the NBA and how it works. Hell, he might of had a conversation with Thibs. Brunson had to keep it quiet and he owes his loyalty to the organization first before the fans...
