Re: Breaking: Tom Fired
I do wonder how this is gonna affect team chemistry. Where more than likely, Brunson and Hart probably went to bat for Thibs. But guys like Kat, OG, Bridges and Deuce were clearly on the other side here. I wonder what Mitch said...

No shade to your post, but we have no idea what Johnnie Bryant relies on. He's never been a HC![]()
He's never run anything ever.
Yes he has, skip to 7:20 in this video and he explains his concept of spacing
Now watch this entire podcast and you can see what his concepts are on trapping the pick and roll, and defensive schemes
A lot of sets that we ran in 2nd and 1st quarters last season were plays that Thibs allowed Bryant to cook
The guy can coach
In the first video he's explaining the Cavs philosophy, not necessarily his own, though I'm sure he informs it somewhat. But Atkinson was brought in for being an offensive maximizer himself, so I have no idea where Kenny ends and Johnny begins.
The second video didn't work

Re: Breaking: Tom Fired
I'm glad to eat crow on the fact that I thought they wouldn't have the balls to fire Thibs after bringing the Knicks to the ECF..
But it is the right move, hopefully they make the next right move and hire the right coach

They are looking for a Championship coach not a young upstart. It will be either Bud or Malone.

Any media people "stunned" should rewatch the season. Or maybe watch it for the first time.

Man, he lost his dream job. His passion in life. That sucks. The money helps but doesn't change that.
But congrats you got your wish. Hope it works out cause if it doesn't youre getting COOOOOOOOOKED.
Nah, $30 million to do nothing is the dream, I'm incapable of feeling any remorse or empathy for someone with that much money who gets to wake up and can fly to Fiji on a whim if they want. He should just go coach college, that is more suited to him if we're being honest.
It's too late Guan0, even if I come crashing down I'll be up higher than I was when this all started. I'll also alert the authorities now, the new RealGM protects monsters such as myself that know how to read the laws.
NoDope using constitutional coup language is one of the reasons this place is so great

So basically players were upset with their roles and the FO was upset with rotations. The main issues most fans also seen.
The fact that Hart forced himself to the bench suggests he might have been out on Thibs too.

How can you possibly know if he is going to be a great coach?
Not saying im opposed to him or another unknown coach. Its just wild to be in on an uunproven coach when we are close to a championship.

Re: Breaking: Tom Fired
For all those saying they "feel sorry" for Thibs and they "hope he'll be okay," I say LET IT GO!
The NBA is a multi-BILLION dollar BUSINESS. No player or coach gets to stay on the job simply out of passion and dedication. That's just not how business works.
Yes, I appreciate Thibs for taking us from being the laughing stock of the league to the ECF. However, like any legit business, it became clear he had reached his ceiling and could take us no further. With a championship as our ultimate goal, we did what needed to be done. Since we all share that goal, today is a reason to celebrate.
So, thank you Thibs for all you did, but the time came. Thankfully, he has 30 million rea$ons to be okay -- and the resources to hire a therapist if he's not.

This one should load. In it he touches on analytics and letting it help determine lineups. Matchups, lineups combinations

Its not about any of that. They want someone who knows how to crack the code of winning a title. Everyone can have ideas, few have actually accomplished it.

Based Leon allowed Johnnie to go to the Cavs to learn a bit more with the coach of the year and now he is bringing him back.

i'm just saying, even if he has no resume as a head coach, the organization knows his work intimately already and might have been impressed
