The Knicks should bring Doc home. A proven, title-winning head coach. A former Knick. It's a match made in heaven!

Although it would be heartbreaking to see him go after all he's done for the organization, it really is something the Bucks front office should consider. Would hate to waste the rest of his career in Milwaukee.humanrefutation wrote:The Knicks should bring Doc home. A proven, title-winning head coach. A former Knick. It's a match made in heaven!

As others have said, gross. The firsts become late firsts with Giannis on the Kings. Keegan Murray is ok but not going to move the needle much. So we're basically left with Keegan Murray and a bunch of late firsts. Hard pass. We also get nothing for this years draft so we'd tank and possibly give up our pick to NOP since we'd surely be worse than they are or the lottery would make our pick higher which they'd swap.
And having 41.6m in cap space does nothing when nobody wants to play here.

Jay Wright to NY is my guess.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

KAT, coming off 2 injury filled years, played his most MPG since he was 22.
Hey, funny, pretty sure Brook did that too this year (most minutes since he was 22)

Also the two guys we're getting make like 35m combined. Where is that 41.6m coming from?

Bill Simmons brought out conspiracy Bill today. Said maybe the Knicks don’t want their assistant coach to leave for the Phoenix job. Or maybe they know Durant won’t play for Thibs. He emphasized he was just having fun and don’t aggregate it. But the first one is plausible

Former Knicks assistant Johnnie Bryant. That would be a good hire. Up there with Chris Quinn with my dream Doc replacements.

Re: ATL - Thibs Out
There are good and bad posts on the coaching situation:
1) MD is right that coaches get too much credit and blame:
2) Prez said Atkinson is one of the best coaches in the league. Based on what? He has one season with the Cavs. Way too early to tell how good he is.Not very good in the playoffs, for sure.
3) Thibs is a good coach. Well above Doc and Bud. He does play hs players too many minutes and I can see how he might get old after five seasons. But that team, despite a lot of star names, has talent flaws, as posters have pointed out.
4) Bud in my view, is in the same category as Doc. At this point, I'd put Bud and Doc at the lower middle of the coaching pack. He won a title, like Doc, but is also way too rigid, like Doc (although in different ways).
5) What I find key to Doc and Bud is some of their flaws are fatal ones, unlike some mediocre coaches. Both of them made moves (or non-moves) that made the difference between winning and losing games.
6) Bud is still better than Doc, though. He made some great use of Brook on defense (to be fair, about the only use Brook had) and emphasized the right things-defensive rebounding, getting back on defense, forcing hard two pointers. He just was slow to adjust to guarding the three point line and realizing that the good teams could attack the drop defense and he needed to adjust.

Love the Magic refresh. Anything that gets teams with iconic uniforms from the 90s closer to those is good in my books.
Give me the Hawks and Cavs next.

With our luck, it'll likely be Thibs coming to Milwaukee to coach under Doc again and we've got Giannis playing 40min a night in November.
