Everyone does overvalue their own players if you believe Gafford to be a high end starting center. He is a high end backup, or low end starter. Marshall probably isn't a top 5 bench player either.

And Gafford/Knife don't come close to White. Not close.

Backup is a crazy take. There are not 20 centers in the league better than Gafford right now.

I think there probably are. But you claimed he was a high end starter which means he's one of the best 8-10 centers and he's absolutely not that.

I get it we love our guys. He's a great finisher. He blocks some shots. He's also out of position on defense too often which is why the team has consistently performed better with Lively on the court despite him not being the offensive player Gafford is. Defense from that position just scales so much better.

Dallas shouldn't give him away. But if Dallas can address another hole, like the giant hole that is their current backcourt, they should absolutely consider it strongly. Without Kyrie its as a bad a guard rotation as there is in the entire Association. It's dire.

The only trade Dallas should offer for Jrue is Klay/Caleb/Hardy. Boston breaks one bad contract into three smaller bad contracts where they save money and can do some more fanagling

Experience mainly. I'd seen it proposed by a DET fan in a previous thread, so ran with it.

As a Hawks fan, I'm cool with the Atlanta part, assuming the KP illness isn't something serious.

Links?

I have Jrue as the best basketball player of the three. So in order to get the on court upgrade Dallas would be giving financial value to Boston. Seems like a pretty logical way for a team with no assets to provide value.

Now I think the bigger issue is a lot of Mavs fans have collectively decided Jrue is washed. Which makes me wonder which Dallas media person has started this narrative. Because it really doesn't make sense for everyone to have independently decided a good player is no longer very good.

I think its the fact that he si what he is offensively, but defense was his calling card. It was nowhere to be found against New York in the playoffs

Both of these link to the same source, which is Fischer :nonono: . But even he says “multiple sources suggest they may have to include,” not that it was a given. His defense was good vs NY, that was far from the problem. Most GM’s would recognize that he wouldn’t be the 4/5th option there like he was in Boston and his game should age fine. I’m expecting them to attach some sort of asset but who knows how it could shape up.

I'm just saying it's nonsensical for Dallas to trade for Jrue without unloading Klay in the deal. Gaff and Naji are both solid contributors paid fairly. Jrue is paid based on him helping Boston win a chip last year. Why should Dallas be on the hook for that bill?

I think the Mavs simple talk with Chicago for Lonzo Ball instead of Jrue Holiday who's shown significant sign of regressing and is on ugly contract. Not to mention that Lonzo Ball gives a true playmaking skills compared with Jrue Holiday. If it's Derrick White, I will think about it at the very least.

I think Gafford is underrated. I know Gafford could walk for nothing but the Mavs ain't in good condition if you ask Lively and AD to increase the minutes at 5. Playmaking is the real concern for the Mavs. I know Holiday provides better defense to quicker guards. However, still, moving Gafford is far more risky to me. So is taking on Holiday's contract and regressing statistics line.

I would be down with this for the Hawks. I think KP would work really well with the way the Hawks are built right now. Although im not gonna like i would miss Niang he became a small fan favorite rather quickly while here. He also fit in quite well with the way the teams built right now and was having a very good season for us.
