JB was benched more than usual during the Pacers series and at times, it showed how JB kept looking at Thibs like “this is not you coach, put me in……” so will see how JB will adjust to the new head coach strict minutes for starters and playing the bench meaningful minutes per game. Thibs implemented bad habits towards his starters and not enough confidence to the bench players.

I’m looking forward at a new head coach with a different approach when it comes to utilizing the bench for a long period of time during the season and the playoffs.

The firing isn’t shocking but him being completely out of the organization is.

Is it really though?

All the positions that he could possibly move into are filled.

We have a bunch of advisors already so he can’t do that and the two guys that were pushing to get him fired are still there.

Leon moving ruthless, love it.

It's going to take 11 seconds for fans to hate whoever is hired...

...who am I kidding, it won't take that long.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

I have lived this already - the Bulls have been trash outside of his tenure from 1999 on just like the Knicks have been since 2003.

You didnt have Jalen Brunson.

Thibs elevated his PGs repeatedly in Chicago.

Derrick won an MVP with him
John Lucas III was highly productive with us and a bum pretty much his entire career otherwise
DJ Augustine was in the d League then was playing awesome for us and the following year
Nate Robinson rejuvenated his career with us and fell off

I'm sorry but Brunson was elevated by Thibs just like those dudes were. It isn't to say he's not awesome but Thibs helped him raise his level quite a bit and we'll see how things shake out without him.

Quite possible Context, but the new coach has to turn out better than Fizdale, Hornecek, Brown, etc. Lol

If Thibs was a 5 out of 10...I hope the guy we hire is at least a 7.

Is it because he doesn't hold his players accountable for anything and just lets them freelance and play ISO heavy? I mean if you even got an ounce of talent and are given the unlimited green light I think any player will get better usually at the expense of the overall team though.

Yes he has, skip to 7:20 in this video and he explains his concept of spacing

Now watch this entire podcast and you can see what his concepts are on trapping the pick and roll, and defensive schemes

A lot of sets that we ran in 2nd and 1st quarters last season were plays that Thibs allowed Bryant to cook

The guy can coach

It was immediately apparent that Thibs never had our guys on the outside moving - usually they stood around, and so may of our passes couldn't be made or resulted in turnovers. Great video, and I loved watching the whole thing.

Guys that want college coaches think it's the 80s or something.

Wright and Hurley will not work, how many times does a big name college coach need to fail in the NBA before people understand this. The next coach should be someone that actually has sat on an NBA bench.

I don’t think the Knick fans are celebrating him losing his job
Rather, the Knick fans want to see a ring, and if you’re not going to change and adjust with the times, then it’s time to bring in someone who will.
I think he will be just fine, he got 30 mil more
The goal is the ring, not interpersonal relationships.

Actually, AI can't compare to the real deal:

Absolutely. Here's a Knicks-style rant in the chaotic, sarcastic, half-doomer/half-delusional optimism spirit of thebuzzardman from RealGM:

Subject: Fire Thibs, Trade Randle, Clone Brunson

I’ve officially snapped. I just watched Josh Hart pass up another open three to dribble into a contested floater like he's prime MJ after three IPAs. Meanwhile, Thibs is on the sideline looking like he just smelled sour milk but decided to let it ride. I'm convinced he’s coaching off a laminated napkin from 2012.

Randle's body language says “I’m thinking about my crypto portfolio” every time he jogs up the court. One play he looked off FOUR guys to take a turnaround fadeaway like he was auditioning for a "What Not To Do" coaching tape.

Meanwhile, Brunson is out here doing God's work. I’m fully on board with Project Clone-A-Brunson. Let’s use whatever leftover DNA’s on his towel and start splicing. I want five of him by next April.

Leon Rose? Man’s been in witness protection since the draft. I'm convinced he’s just a cardboard cutout with a Zoom filter. Our offseason plan is gonna be praying someone takes Fournier’s expiring and hoping Obi Toppin forgives us in a dream.

This team makes me want to scream into a microwave.

And yet... Knicks in 6.

Ok, it got the bolded right. Needs some work on the dates. Of course, I could give it better prompts.

I have no inside knowledge as to who's going to be our next head coach, but here's a big reason why it could be Johnny Bryant.

How much GM experience did Leon Rose have? NONE
How much did Leon struggle to clearly take control of the front office? NONE
How effective has Leon been in turning around the team, bringing in better players than we had for more than a decade? You know.

So why wouldn't rookie GM Leon Rose think that rookie coach Bryant could also do well?

Yes, there's risk in choosing a new guy. But there's also risk in choosing a Thibs clone, or choosing a guy who is so steeped in running his last team that he's slow to adapt to our players.

Ian Begley said Bryant's name first, then said Malone isn't an organizational favorite, and Wright isn't really intested.

Still, we don't know who it will be. The great Shams Charania was wrong just a couple of days ago in saying Thibs would stay. So if we're wrong, we're in good company. Exciting times, folks!

Basically everyone on the team besides Mikal has had their career year under Thibs, and even in the case of Mikal he was better than last season. Minnesota was at the top of the lottery shortly after dropping Thibs, Chicago been on the treadmill since dropping Thibs, I hope y'all ready for another drought now that he's gone.

Not excited about Johnnie Bryant?

If we had a young team I'd like it. This supposed to be the move that gets us over the hump though. Thibs was the best available for that.

I found it interesting how people took anything positive Brunson said about Thibs so literally when this is what most pro ballers do with their coaches to some degree. I said it did not mean that is exactly how Brunson feels about Thibs and it was merely him being politically correct.

Brunson grew up with Uncle Thibs so it would be like crapping on a relative in public. He just wasn't going to do it.

I'm sure Brunson has a soft spot for Thibs, but that has nothing to do with whether he feels Thibs will help him reach his goals, because the reality is Thibs would not. Thibs did, however, give Brunson the opportunity of a lifetime to do WTF he wanted on the court and he became Mr. Clutch so there is a debt there, but that's as far as it necessarily goes.
