I watched/rewatched the series over the last week and the last 2 are kind of rough (esp 4), so I'm glad they stepped it up with the recent one.

We did the same in my house. #3 was TERRIBLE lol. #4 was pretty bad but at least better than #3. #5 and #2 are the top 2 IMO whatever order you want to put them in.

I haven't watched any of them. Recommend that I start from the beginning? They are like horror/gore/action/suspense?

It certainly is not required viewing; like there's some loose connections that tie the movies together but it's certainly not a tight enough story to really care that much about seeing them in order or anything. They are not really scary at all IMO; purely gore/so ridiculous that it may make you laugh.

Eh, I love movies - good and terrible so I'm game!

If you like Rube Goldberg machines and gruesome deaths, it is absolutely the place to be.

Really liked MI7. First 1/3 full on exposition was kind of tough, but not as bad as some are making it out to be, imo, and the back 2/3 was enthralling.

Haven't seen it yet, but I have enjoyed every single MI movie so I'm sure this one will be no different. Pretty easy formula that they don't really deviate from lol. I think anyone that dislikes the movie likely just doesn't actually like Mission Impossible very much or is weirdly taking it too seriously.

Okay this is a very cool fun fact: my friend was known around our college campus as an Adam Sandler lookalike, and then in one of Sandler's Netflix movies, Sandler played a character named Max Kessler which happened to be my friend's name. We made a stupid post on Reddit about it and it went viral; Sandler invited my friend to the premiere of the movie, and now years later, my friend is playing Young Happy Gilmore in the movie. He thinks he's like literally going to be the first person you see in the movie and he's so excited.

Mobland was solid enough. Brosnan and Mirren (especially) were especially fun. Hardy was just kinda doing Tom Hardy.

She accidentally stabbed Hardy with a chef's knife. I'm sure they're doing it in case they can't get him for season two, but that was insane.

Yes, he hasn't commited to another season so they had to leave it open ended. Agreed they could/should have done that another way

Different how? He's creating physical and psychic hard for his family and this was her unconscious (not intentional) way to protect herself and her daughter. Literally stabbing him back, kind of giving him a taste of how real and upsetting his difficult choices are. I thought it was just fine. It leaves the series at a spot where they could just finish it after that one. Nothing earth-shattering in the season but I enjoyed the malevolent and maladapted family system and traits each character displayed. How the absence of trust creates room for paranoia and erratic behavior. Great acting as well, which one would expect from that cast.
