New Orleans / Portland

Post#1 » by hoopsfan777 » Wed Jun 4, 2025 8:35 am

New Orleans outgoing

Zion Williamson
Jordan Hawkins

Portland outgoing

Deandre Ayton
Shaedon Sharpe
29 Boston 1st round pick

Why for New Orleans?

Resets things from the Zion era and brings in a position of need in Ayton who could be a long term piece, Sharpe who'd be hoped could become a star beside Murphy III and a future Boston first round pick which could be a good pick.

Payton / Alvarado / Murray
Sharpe / Reeves
Murphy III / Jones
Matkovic / Olynyk
Ayton / Missi

#7

Why for Portland?

Buys low on Zion who could turn things around a live up to his potential in Portland. Hawkins could find his groove and provide great shooting for Portland.

Simons / Henderson
Williamson / Hawkins
Avdija / Thybulle
Grant / Murray
Clingan / Reathe

I think that’s Zion value from a week ago.

If NOP is actually valuing Ayton somehow, Portland should accept just about anything that doesn’t add worse salary back / or get paid for the bar salary.

Yeah, if teams had doubts about offering value for Zion with his injury history and questionable maturity/proffessionalism-- the latest allegations have probably halted any team offering positive value for him.

One development, Pels owner Gayle Benson was asked about the Zion allegations and basically said, "People can sue for anything, whether you're innocent or not."

Read on Twitter

So sounds like they're playing the wait it out game for now, until it's settled out of court or proven to be false. They have until July 15 to decide on guaranteeing Zion's contract for 39.4 mil. next season or waiving him for a 7.9 mil. cap hit. That's definitely in play, but I think they play it 'safe' and give it one more year with Zion.

I wouldn’t have traded Sharpe for Zion before Zion’s accusations. Too many in injuries, too much money for a player at set positions. Even before the accusations, I had already said Grant would be required to go out in a Zion trade. I just envisioned that would end up with us starting Deni and Camara while paying $70M plus for Grant to come off the bench and Zion to be in a suit.

Not terrible value for Portland but still hell no. We don’t take the injury and lawsuit risk. But thanks for playing. Shaedon is our highest potential guy too. Pass

Oh yeah y’all can get jerami Grant for zion sure lol. Just don’t try and poach our core. If anything we take a risk and give you one of the Mil swaps hoping Zion has a redemption arc.

Zion's off court accusations makes him radioactive until they are resolved
