Beal / Reeves / Harris
Murphy III / Jones
Williamson / Matkovic
Bitadze / Missi
#7
#16
New Orleans builds around Zion with Beal who they hope can show some of his Washington stuff. Harris is depth. Bitadze is a veteran center who can start or come off the bench. New Orleans takes bpa at #7 and #16 or tries to package them and move up.
Phoenix saves money long-term. They hope Hawkins reaches his potential and Dejounte can come back full strength. Olynyk helps them compete now.
Orlando adds a veteran who can shoot in McCollum and hopes he can help them get to the next level.

Why does Beal agree to this? He has an NTC and must sign off.

Think Orlando is owed value and Phoenix owes value? Don’t understand CJM being worth pick 16. Harris can just be let go, it’s a team option. And that’s their easiest path to ducking the tax one last year before Paolo gets paid..
Murray is a negative but at least there’s some hope of him coming back healthy and being a good fit with Booker. Beal won’t ever be and likely will turn down this trade anyways..

Re: New Orleans retools
Trade 1: Magic hangs up the phone before the Pelicans finish their offer.
Trade 2: Yeah, Beal probably shuts it down but still, not worth it for the Pelicans, Beal has 2 years at almost twice the salary Dejounte makes and, though the latter has a 3 year contract, I believe he can rehab his trade value if he comes back healthy and playing well. I'd ride it out.

Can Phoenix "force" B. Beal to take a trade by simply telling him to stay home? I am sure the NBAPA would get involved at some point, so just wondering.

I think Beal might want to be traded in 2027 to show he deserves a real contract.. But for next season? If they pay him that much to stay home, why wouldn’t he?
That’s not a very bad punishment..
