One country vs all the rest, talk about an ego trip.

I’m not sure ‘the world’ has anywhere near enough good guards if I’m honest. Luka-SGA-Giannis-Wemby-Jokic is a good starting 5, but I’m not sure if they can get a full team. Are guys like Jamal Murray and Josh Giddey really going to be all stars?

Cool but how are they going to make an equal number of both USA and international players get selected as all-stars next season?

As long as no one undeserving makes it, I'm sure there will be some exceptions made. Then again, this is the NBA and constant change is the norm. Silver is such a disappointment.

I like it, but there will be some obviously undeserving guys on the international team.

You've obviously never heard of the elite management technique called "stack ranking"? They will just take the top 12 or 13 vote getters or whatever from each.

Format is not the problem, but weak-minded players that treat these games as preseason games. Must be a generation thing.

However, trying out this format may help revive the competitiveness of the All Star Games so maybe a good idea,

Can’t fault Silver for not trying a new one, seeing the success of the in-season tournament and the play-in games, he has to continue exploring.

so how will the 2026 All-Star game guarantee the selections, or will they fill the roster out with non All-Stars which makes this a glorified scrimmage?

We're going to have to get rising stars and All Stars on the same team.

Some folks wanted this years ago, and I felt it would be uneven.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

At this point, what else is he supposed to do? Again, try everything i guess but yes, as long as the players don’t buyin, no format will work

Yeah the international player pool is less than 1/3 of the NBA. Last year's All-star rosters had 5 international players and 19 USA players before injury replacements, and both of those were also USA players. You'd have to add 7 international players and take away 7 USA players to balance out the roster

Obviously they're not just going to select 12 of each, so we'll see what happens. I hope we don't get another >2 team format of some kind, but could see them doing something like having three teams: 8 USA Western Conference players, 8 USA Eastern Conference players, and 8 International players, then play a round robin tournament.

Silver just can’t help but keep micromanaging every aspect of the product. Can we just leave it be for an offseason?

He does, he just can't do anything about it. Almost one wants to go hard in the All-Star game anymore, and it's understandable. NBA games are a lot more rigorous now, and players both want to avoid injury and use All-star weekend to just relax. Offering a high cash incentive to guys making tens of millions a year is a bad look, and the nuclear option of having it decide HCA in the Finals is a terrible idea.

It isn't understandable.

No one is asking these guys to play like it is game 7 of the finals. But how hard is it to get a 2020 asg effort?
