I’ll give the guy a chance but this looks really bad on the surface.

I really hope Ott is good, but I think there's a 0% change the Michigan connection wasn't at minimum a factor here. And that does NOT bode well for us. One more hire anywhere in the org with Michigan ties and there will no longer be even a miniscule argument against it being the key quality for Ishbia.

Having an owner willing to spend is at least 50% of being a good owner. I'm optimistic that Ishbia can be good in the long-term. But he is not engendering any faith in that. If Quinn was in the mix we should've hired him when we had the chance. He's learned from the best for YEARS. But who cares as long as you were involved with Michigan. Comedy franchise

Most predictable Ishbia thing ever! No one is a fan of this but Ishbia.
I am such a lucky NBA fan. My favorite team went from the most greedy and racist owner to the most ego driven dumbass owner in all of sports.

Only a fan of Arizona teams!

With respect to winning games - what has Ishbia does with player personnel, coaching anything that has been a GOOD move?

It would be better if it was funny. The next Danny McBride show should be based on the Suns.

I’m guessing this coming season will find me watching even less Suns basketball and I didn’t think it could get any worse than last year where I watched, maybe, four games from start to finish. I am very prepared to be completely underwhelmed by their next series of moves. Durant for a couple of chew toys would be apropos, but we don’t have any dogs to chew them.

My prediction - Spurs, Houston and Knicks will make offers for Durant

Spurs and Rockets will be something like an expiring (serviceable but expiring player), a young player with upside and a couple FRPs

Knicks will offer Towns or maybe the Twolves would offer Gobert and Ishbia would go for the sizzle without analyzing what is the best way to build a roster. Like Mat Ishbia sees the "name and salary" and thinks thats the best move

I don’t think Book and DLo will pass up their only opportunity to hang together for a season. It just seems to be too likely. Just please, stay away from KAT. Draft a big at 29. Hopefully that Crieghton kid falls.

It fields a legit team with actual nba players. Still need a real PF but Barnes and Oneal can get you through the season.

Maybe still stretch Beal if it facilitates a trade / acquisition for a PF. I’m not giving up the hopes for Yabasule. If stretching Beal lands that tank… it’s worth it.

DLo…. Gillespie… # 14 (weak defensively but 14 might be the better of the bunch. Would love that Frenchy speedster)
Book … Allen
Vassell … Dunn
Barnes …ONeal or maybe Yaba as starter
Richards … big Creightin kid …
OSo fills in the gaps at PF and C

Who’s with me?
never thought I’d see you pimp dlo, I’ll just consider this an off day for you Frank.

I liked Franks moves but we will disagree on the stretching to sign Yabasule. For me - you are still stuck with reduced cap space for too long for the player you are getting. I am swinging bigger in 2027 than an MLE in 2025.

Call me a bit cynical but that is probably something from the Suns PR team for Gambo to tell the masses. Like "no seriously, this was a real process and not just hiring because of the MSU connections."

That said, hoping its true and not PR spin

why all these interview sehenaginans?
i don't care about ott himself, he might be good and work out. it is the perspective of the owner. and so many red flags in so short time span.

Duane Rankin:
Grinder. Really Smart. Student of the game.
Very sound offensive, defensive philosophies.
Strong player development, film room.
Innovative. Teacher of the game.

How league sources described new Suns coach Jordan Ott when contacted by @azcentral.

"Ready to be an NBA head coach."

Shams:
Suns franchise cornerstone Devin Booker was involved in the search process during the final stages and stamped Ott as his top choice as well, sources said. Ott has been on NBA coaching staffs with the Hawks, Nets, Lakers and Cavaliers since 2012.

I don't think Bryant would want to deal with that insanity especially as a rookie coach.

I don't think Kat checked out, he is just not defensive minded and it pissed his teammates off. He was still an offensive threat, although it was troubling watching him run up and down court, seem to be lumbering more than I remember. Is he severely overweight, or is his back an issue?

He had a knee injury, but he def looked out of shape. I think he hurt them more than he helped, with the lone exception being the one game he took over in the 2nd half.
